Do you think the vet would ask you if you knew who the owner was Kazz?

I know they'll know he's not mine :? unless I take him to another vet but I don't want to get the vet into trouble by "treating" a cat thats not mine - if it all goes pear shaped.

I suppose I could lie to the vet (as a neighbour said) and say I found him - :? but then not sure - I've found honesty is always the best policy. So better to be honest all round and say he's not mine but a neighbours who hasn't treated him.

I am popping out regularly to see if I can find him and Peg, Sally and Pat and a few of the other neighbours are keeping an eye out for him,we know he's not in their house as they have gone out and he was seen outside before that but he could be in their back garden and I won't go in there he'll come out maybe when its cooler :? and we can see what he's like then?

Hope you find him Kazz, you for you helping the poor little boy......My vet would threat him, even if he was not mine, as long as they get paid, don't think any vet would refuse...

Vets do have a 'duty of care' to treat an animal; any animal. I checked this out when I ws in a similar situation several years ago and my CP colleagues gave me all the info on this. However I would also be honest with your vet and tell him the cat is not yours - there is no point in deception.

Sadly I never found the little cat that I was hoping to catch and get treated (this has taught me to act first and ask questions later) :( Kazz - I hope you have better luck . . .

Vets are legally obliged to treat any pet, however they can insist on payment for that treatment.

I don't mind paying the bill; the relief I would feel finding him and getting him better is worth any amount of money.:)

Don't know - sorry. I think it's a case where one of my favourite sayings "It's better to ask for forgiveness than permission" comes into play. Just do it and face the consequences later.

Not been seen at all. But they have gone away so I wonder if he's gone to someone as no one has been asked to feed him their holiday was planned. We'll wait and see.

From what you've said, it wouldn't surpirse me at all to know they've gone on holiday and left him to fend for himself or just assumed the neighbors would feed him! Hope you find the poor guy...
