Look what visited our feeder today? Rover didn't spot it because I bundled him
into the kitchen with some smelly-fish food when I went to get the camera.

Maybe I should be sad that it's a grey, but I do love wildlife of (almost) any sort that
ventures this close to me.

lol
what a funny looking bird that is!!!

I lvoe your window feeder, where did you find that? I read somewhere that having a window feeder can entertain cats by watching the visiting birds, but without the cats getting them.

RSPB has them, but you can find them elsewhere as well. Got them through the RSPB because I'm a member/supporter and because they also sell husk-free seed, so there is less of a mess. Well... if a squirrel doesn't dig through them to find the best ones.

Make sure you put it somewhere where they cats will come to no harm when they fling themselves at the birds, hit window, fall down, go boom. Also leave some nice big toys or a kitchen paper-towel roll (half full) to take out agression on, since all that excitement and energy has to go somewhere and you don't want it taken out on furniture or other cats.

Gotta love 'em!!!

I had one that completely demolished my wire peanut dispenser . . . used to hang upsidedown off the branch and rip the dispenser apart with its teeth.

Maybe some chili-oil on the feeder? Capsaicin tastes hot to most mammals (some exceptions in individuals as well), but birds are unaffected.

That's a great photo Hreow. I love all wildlife too, don't think I ever ever seen a red squirrel in its natural habitat though. :(

I thought it was rather weird to see squirrels running around the streets of Chicago, in between all the apartment blocks and stuff.
I do like them though.

They do so much damage though, this one has eaten the perches already and he has only been twice to my knowledge. Every Grey Squirrel less, is a help to the Native Red Squirrel.

As some of you know, I loathe and detest squirrels (we call them tree rats!) for the damage they do in the garden destroying plantings, digging up bulbs, eating produce just when it's almost ripe....UGH!! But I have foiled them at the bird feeder!! Wasted money on 3 different ones that were supposed to be squirrel proof but weren't; finally have one that IS!! Ta Da!!!
