She understands every sound every gesture,
Meanings are now so easily understood.
We’ve formed a partnership, she and I,
Both of us have given years, building this friendship.

The years fall away, in a flash she’s young again,
Youth is infectious, youth is impetuous.
The young are destined to have fun!
She understands every sound every gesture.

Once her eyes lit up at the sight of bright breads.
No word of diets, and never heard of middle aged spread,
Life was for enjoying and watching the butterflies.
Meanings are now so easily understood

So the years have passed now, and life is enjoyable;
Her eyes still watch my every move, reading my mood exactly.
Still graceful in old age, we potter along.
We’ve formed a partnership, she and I.

So there she goes again, up the garden path,
I sit and watch yet know she’ll come back.
Often she wanders away but she always comes home,
Both of us have given years, building this friendship.

But remember this young kitten,
The joys of human ownership are fraught with worry,
Yet the occasional gift of a mouse or a gentle head butt,
Go along way, to making a human your own.
Treat them well and they’ll stay with you a lifetime and more.
