View Full Version : More Efficient Washing Machine???

Well as you all know I had a new kitchen fitted a while ago. :) Am loving the new kitchen, and the dishwasher is brilliant - been too long without one! :p The tumble dryer is great, and so is the oven and hob that were all fitted.:p

The washing machine on the other hand is a nightmare  - or maybe it is just me!!! It is a Hotpoint one, so a reasonable make, and it is supposed to be very energy efficient and very quiet to use.

It is very quiet I give them that, and it is efficient in the fact it hardly uses any water (one of its selling points), but that is where the efficiency ends.... it doesnt seem to rinse properly as it uses hardly any water:mad: I have tried using less powder and better fabric softener, but it is not helping. The black clothes all dry with white patches all over them, and the childrens skin is becoming all itchy as they are wearing clothes that still have detergent in them.:(

I am now having to wait for the wash to finish, then set the machine off on another rinse cycle... so where is the efficiency in that????

Has anyone else had any problems with the newer machines you can buy???

I have a Hotpoint Aquarius Extra washer / dryer and have to say I am very pleased with it. I have had it about three years now and never had an issue with it...Perhaps yours is faulty Donna?

I have a Hotpoint Aquarius and I haven't had any problem with it....

Maybe you should contact the Hotpoint Service and explain it to them Donna........it sounds as if something isn't right there.....

I have looked up this machine on the internet, and some other reviews have stated the same thing, so dont know if it is a design fault.

I'd be inclined to go back to where I bought it and tell them it doesn't work right Donna...I wouldn't like to think of all that detergent left in the kiddies clothes :(

Was gonna try washing liquid rather than a powder...Is the water temperture working ok??I wash mainly on 40, and discovered some tablets did not dissolve properly on this temp...

Sorry I have got a Baumatic, and I cannot fault it, I do however use the strange liquid capsules rather than powder though

Is the water temperture working ok??

Yes water temperature fine, spin is fine, everything seems fine, except it only uses a teaspoon of water to wash and rinse in (maybe a slight exaggeration!).

Maybe your control buttons are mixed up, try washing on a half load....You should get the engineer out though Donna, its a new machine, should work properly...you hoses are not kinked when the machine was push into the space are they?? try pulling it out and put it on...

Dont have an option on there for a half load, but think I will speak to someone about it tomorrow.

Although not a Hotpoint, this Indesit is obviously of a similar design...

It is supposed to be one of the best built in machines you can get!...

Donna if the water isn't coming through properly it could be a kink in the hose, as Moli said. I did have that problem once a few years ago....I just pulled the machine out and adjusted the hose.....and it was ok;)

Donna
25-05-2006, 10:24 PM
Well there could be a kink but I cannot move the machine out myself. I can hear the water going in and being pumped out, but it is meant to run on a small amount of water so dont hold out any hope it is a kink in the hose myself, but willing to give it a go!

Phone Hotpoint helpline or the shop you got it from Donna, and explain the problem to them...

Donna, did your washing machine get sorted out?

Donna
30-05-2006, 06:29 PM
Well remembered Mags!!!

Well I spoke to the lady at the customer service and she recommended me being a bit more selective with which programme to use as the machine uses different amounts of water depending on the type of clothing ie. cotton or synthetics etc.

Been trying to be more specific and telling the machine what type of materials I am using and it seems to be better. Not having to extra rinse everything twice so fingers crossed....

Blimey, can't even do your washing now without understanding modern technology!:lol:
I hope that was the answer Donna.....seems like we have to use our brains a little more when we do the wash!

Donna
30-05-2006, 06:34 PM
The machine is obviously more intelligent that me Mags!!! It does each wash differently according to materials being washed!!!

But must say the spin is amazing - the clothes come out nearly dry!!!! Just damp to the touch!
