On sunday night I waslked into the hall. I could smell burning. It was coming from under the stairs. I got the kids to put off everything. I traced it back to the fuse box. Two wires coming from the electric metre were hot. Got someone from the electricity board this morning and this is what he found.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v647/boxerlass/C-Fur/CAKXCX0R.jpg

Good lord Jac . . . that's very, very scary :shock: is it a main cable into/out of the fuse box???

Its the two main cables Yola. I was accused by my stepson of being nurotic. That there was nothing wrong!

That was scary Jac :shock:.......good job you noticed it as it could have been a disaster :shock:

Makes me relieved to know we has a new fuse box fitted last year:roll:

I must admit I really did get a fright when I saw the wires. I think someone must have been watching over us.

That is incredibly scary; you must have been shaking!! So glad it turned out OK!

:shock: How scarey is that?
Have you got a decent smoke alarm installed? Everyone should have one.
Anyway, glad you're safe.

We do have two smoke alarms, the thing was it was smelly not smokey. Plus the fuse box is in a cupboard under the stairs so if it had smoked it would have been hard to detect.
I showed the wires to my Mum and she went white. Must admit I found the whole experiance really frightening. I kept thinking what could have happened.
