Great question!
Can't think of an answer at the mo.
My nephew had Stanley, which seemed to suit its owner.
Will think further whilst I did this morning and come back if I have anything of value to add (everyone says - 'bye then!)

I remember the cat food advert that was on a few years back with the cat called "Onion" I thought that was quite a unusual but nice name

If I get the little grey kitten that I am hoping for it will be called "Little Blue" whether it is male or female (after the cartoon elephant).

Best dog's name was "Footwell" it was in the care of one of the greyhound rescues don't know why the name though.

Now, my naughty friend, when at college had 2 tabby cats - a boy and a girl. One she called Eric and one she called Sian (Shaan). She names them on the premise that if you went outside and called their names . . . Eric . . . Sian . . . you'd get some interesting looks from the neighbours

I really like Bumble for a cat, but as I shorten all my animals names, decided against it!!

:-D Thankyou! If you could meet the cat in question, he'd make you smile even more - he was a gorgeous black lump with a white stripe on his belly, and his jaw was crooked (due to being thrown out the car when he was ickle ) so his tongue wouldn't always go back in on its own and he'd run around for ages with his tongue sticking out.

I reckon I'll never stop missing my Dishie.

I love the name my friend's previous cat had - I never met him but he was big and black and long-haired, and his name was Marlowe... He apparently managed to get into a bird cage once, despite it being shut properly when he started trying

Ooh, I don't know... I like lots of names when they 'fit' their owner.

One of my friends has a huge fluffy black and white cat called Carrots - I love his name so much! :smt049

I think Katie called Mini Pyewacket occasionally! poor thing!
Psipsina is from Captain Correlli's Mandolin - the 'funny looking cat' (some type of marten) had that name. It's the Greek equivalent of 'Puss'.

DM - Psipsina . . . lovely name. And one of my favourite ever EVER books. Shame about the fillum

Dandysmom - Grimalkin needs to be a real old curmudgeon of a cat . . . something like a big old Persian with a big old frown on his face ;) don't you think???

My neighbour had a cat called Raztus (sp??) that was unusual. Only 'different' fosters I have had have been Dixie (named by my neighbour, apparently he looked like one) and Sonny Jim - I have known a cat called Pilchard too. And I know a rescue lady who has a cat called Minimopsical, she is a CH kitty and lovely.

I've always pictured a Grimalkin as being a very large, dignified, slightly aloof black cat!! Funny how different images come to mind!

The cat formerly known as Amber... unfortunately, as this photo is on my work computer desktop, my boss asked "Why have you got a picture of a rug on your PC?" - which turned into a nickname, and it's kinda stuck

Best names I can think of or have known are

Two names of hubbies cats when he was little
Touchwood - after something to do with Catweazel?
Bast - not sure on spelling. An oriental type alley cat they had egyptian name I think

Bast or Bastet is the cat-headed Egyptian godess of love, fecundity and cats, so a very good name for an alleycat. :-)

Our siamese came home one day bringing with him a very grubby, obviously lost 'white'Kitten. Took her in and as no one claimed her she was eventuallly rehomed but in the meantime she "washed whiter", so I named her PERSIL.

One of my dad's moggies was called Half Pint :D

When I had two very similar siblings, they were called Black and Purple - rather than trying to work out which one was which, I just gave them different colour collars.

Funny how many people expect a cat called Black to be ... well, black. He's actually a lovely mactabby!

Got a few favourites....

Kit Crewbucket - a cat who appeared on a friends canal boat one day and decided he'd be a boat cat. Named after the ghost of Kit Crewbucket who apparently haunts the Harecastle Tunnel on the Trent and Mersey canal.

Ferrous Oxide.... a ginger tomcat :o)

Rubbish - used to sleep in a waste paper basket.

Mary and Polly.... both big bruiser type farm tomcats... named before anyone was able to sex them as kittens.
