All right, who wants to think of some names for this cat (http://www.catpages.co.uk/talkcats/showthread.php?t=6295)? We need boy names as well as girl names since we don't know her gender.

We will indeed be taking her in unless she has a microchip and it turns out her owners live far away (there is another cat with similar markings in the neighbourhood, so I suspect she's just an abandoned cat who was once a much-adored kitten but had the temerity to grow up).

We shall see. But either way, we'll need something to call "her". Any takers?

Edit for Yola :lol::

Bear in mind that the amber eye is actually light green

Snoof - can you pop a pic into this thread so we've got a reference? I'm quite lazy and it means running between threads to remind myself what she looks like

If you guys are going to insist on only giving girl names, you know she's going to turn out to be a tom, right?

Oh. I thought kitty was a girl. I'm sure I saw you refer to her somewhere as 'she'. But I could be confused coz I've been here on and off for most of the day and looked at lots of pics of cats :-D

Help us narrow it down then and give us a clue about the gender ;) (btw - a pixie can be male or female and Brandy/Whiskey could be equally masculine . . . nes pa)??

smudgley

Does he / she have odd eyes? ...
names.. blue, teabag, spud, cheeky, pudding, Charlie, Mystique (she looks like the cat at work who is called Mystique)

smudgley
10-05-2006, 08:46 PM
yola - they don't know yet if *it's* a boy or girl. They are refering to *it* as she for now, but it may well be a fella.:)

Mags

I think 'she' looks like a girl......got a girly shaped face...:-P

smudgley

Definitely agree with you there Mags - I'd be surprised if that pretty face belongs to a fella.:)

Fran

I would hazard a good guess that she is female ;)

She looks like a girl to me, too, which is why I'm referring to her as "she" But we're not sure yet, and I think she'd be offended if I took a look under her tail after only one date  :-D

I found out that Mila Kunis (the dark-haired girl from That 70's Show) has heterochromia (two different coloured eyes) and she has it the opposite way from the cat we're discussing (blue and green, as opposed to green and blue). I'm considering Mila if she turns out to be a girl. I do like the idea of naming her after a car, but knowing Matt he'd want to call her Jaguar

Snoof

Sera is Italian for evening. I'm leaning towards Sera more than Bella (I know an incredibly annoying woman by the name of Bella, LOL).

I know what you mean, Snoof! I have known two women nmed Myrtle in my life who were, shall we say, "difficult".....I could NEVER name a cat Myrtle!

Well she/he is a lucky cat to be taken in by you.:) Names hmmmmmmm

How about Pickle its unisex and exactly what you are in trying to find a name and her/his background....Pickle :D

Or you could consider Tang, Suki. Both unisex names.

smudgley

I love the name Pickle Kazz.

Or Damson, Bumble, Brambles, or I still like Teabag best:)

Snoof
10-05-2006, 11:12 PM
Teabag is very cool, but I think Matt may object. He has far more rigid rules about what does or does not constitute a "cat name" than I do

It depends on what the ladies down the street can tell me about her, and on whether or not she's been microchipped. Either way we'll be helping her out and we need something to call her!

What on earth would you want to rescue a teabag for :smt017 more to the point, how do you sex teabags so you could say 'she was a sweetie'? :smt102 :-P

Not much cop at names but I've thought of these 2

Last night, this little beauty (still unnamed  we can't make up our minds) was in the hallway when I came out of the lounge. I lured her to me and she came very close but kept dancing away again and then closer, away again... So I didn't get to pet her, but she did give me a cute little meow and I was very encouraged by how brave she was being :-)

Then Ninja turned up behind her, and she trundled towards him and they played chase. Later on, he came in to love on me and got his flea treatment and his dinner

I do wish the ladies down the street would come back home so I could ask them about her

Aww, I like Teabag!! :smt049

She is gorgeous - her tail is so cute! Sounds like your really building up her confidence, Snoof, I'm sure you'll be able to have a stroke soon! Sounds like she is having fun with Ninja though - that must be really nice to see with him being so happy now. :)

Naomi

Yay a little bit of progress, that's what we like to hear :D

Snoof
12-05-2006, 11:43 AM
I've already gotten to stroke her, Julie :-) I think that's why she was comfortable coming into the house without rushing off when someone saw her (as she's done before) - when I got to stroke her I also filled the dry food bowl and set out Ninja's wet food (which she had a tentative lick at but didn't eat, as it's his) so she knew it was a good thing :-)

Julie84
12-05-2006, 12:51 PM
Aww, how lovely. :-)

And what a lovely boy Ninja is, inviting a needy friend in and even sharing his food.

Hreow
12-05-2006, 12:58 PM
Yes... and this was the same cat that you agonized about introducing other cats to? Don't think he'll be too worried about the kittens, Snoof.

Snoof
12-05-2006, 01:27 PM
 Indeed.

I have since spoken to the neighbour of the ladies who feed the strays, and she knew the cat I was talking about (yay for distinctive markings :-D) and says she sleeps in the shed. I can only assume there's some type of machinery in the shed that's leaking oil, which would make sense.

I think she's not letting them close enough to her to do anything about, so I'm already one up (thanks Ninja) and will put the flap in so she'll be trapped inside either today or tomorrow (probably tomorrow as I'm in a world of pain today). I'll also go round theirs when they come back to let them know where she is so they don't worry. The lady said she's sure she doesn't have a home, so I won't have to worry about that. Apparently she's been around for quite a while and has never exhibit signs of having a home :(

Poor girl. At least we'll be able to help this one...

Oh, and Hreow, I think he might be a little bit possessive (of me) but I'm not sure yet... We'll see how it all pans out. I was surprised by the sight of both of them in the hallway - already they look like they belong there :-)

Edit: Yes, of course Ninja does belong here  But the contrast of this white cat kind of made it look entirely different somehow!

Hreow
12-05-2006, 02:07 PM
Yes, you now have Ninja the tame and whatsit the wild and shy. :-)
She seems very familiar with sharing, so I'm sure she'll let Ninja have first claim to you. You may find that she has first claim on him, though... :-) (not likely)

Kazz

Looks like Ninja has spread the word to the homeless cat population...on how good the digs are at your place. :) and you were worried about introducing kittens if I were you I would be worried about how many more friends Ninja has. ;)

Sweet
12-05-2006, 05:20 PM
Was Ninja a stray then?? Good on you x

Snoof
12-05-2006, 05:43 PM
Ninja is a rescue :-)

He does have another friend he keeps trying to invite into my house, but luckily I do know she has a home, and she's nicely plump as well (and far too scared to actually come in)! She belongs to the lady who feeds the cats :-) Big tortie-and-white.

Hreow, it was so nice to see them playing together :-) Lovely that they're both so happy when they're together.

Random, I cannot for the life of me call her Sooty. I get so annoyed at Sooty and Sweep (my son has a DVD of them and inherited Matt's handpuppets - Sooty, Sweep and Soo ) because I can't keep them apart... Sweep might be a nice name though, given the tail :-)

Snoof
12-05-2006, 05:45 PM
She has been named - thankyou for the inspiration Random. "The white cat" is now named Sweep :-)
