Karen and me have been discussing me drawing a photo of Cleo for her dad as a birthday present for him (birthday is in June), so this is the work in progress thread, apologies to anybody who was next in the cue but I am sure you all understand :)

:) No problems Karen,

Oh and I must say to Fran, Bootsy is next on my list after Cleo, poor Fran must have thought that I have given up on him ;)

Fran

Looking good Emma!!

No worries about Bootsy, let some others have theirs first ;)

Claude has finally gone to the shop to be framed :-D It's been so hectic here with kittens and Baillie etc etc, that he just didn't get there as soon as he should have ;) Watch this space :-D

I love to see the different stages of your drawings Emma....it is like watching them come to life!

What a lovely gift for Kazz's dad's birthday too....I'm sure he will treasure that as it is always difficult to know what to get people in their senior years.

Moli

Thats going to be another beauty!! Sure Kazz's Dad will love it...

Emma - that's such a special picture, you have a knack for capturing the 'soul' of the animal; which is very hard to do.

EmmaG
04-05-2006, 09:52 AM
Thanks Donna, Moli and Yola.

The photo that Karen supplied actually had Cleo's eyes closed so we had a bit of a challenge putting the eyes in :) but I think both Karen and myself are happy with the outcome so far :)

Naomi

Wow that's brilliant!!

Kazz
04-05-2006, 02:06 PM
And this is the picture the essence of Cleo was taken from http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v230/kazz76/Captured2005-7-900001.jpg :) as you can see closed eyes so we had to have other pictures for her eyes  and we have agreed the change of flowers to majority daisy/open faced flowers such as Daisy's of assorted colours as my Dad adores open faced flowers but not as much as he adores Cleo.;) he and she have always had an affinity....she adores him as much.:-D

I'd like again to Thank Emma for being so patient getting the eyes right, the soul of my cat, Thank you.

And as Emma won't take money for the pictures and we are donating to rescues - Smudgley get ready for a donation.;)

EmmaG

Thanks Tom and Mags, yes I haven't forgotten her white bit ;) loads to do as yet on her fur on her body and obviously loads to do with the background, tomorrows photos will look a bit different ;)

EmmaG

Fran
28-05-2006, 10:13 PM
Wow Emma! Cleo is looking fantastic, bet kazz is well made up! Can't wait to see the updates

Kazz
28-05-2006, 10:27 PM
Yes Kazz is made up quite literally.

When Emma sent me the preview by email I choked up thinking how excited my Dad will be I am going to give it to him for his birthday June 13th he is 77. He is an avid Cleo fan, heart and soul and she him, she only hears his voice to start miaowing and purring at the same time. :-D So he will be made up by this picture and with his favourtie flowers in there too he loves Daisy type flowers (open faced ones) he won't be expecting anything like this at all and a picture of Cleo to him would be classed 2nd only to one of the grandchildren - his favourite things in the world are
1. his grandchildren
2. Cleo
3. my Mom
4.the dogs (Sal and Tess)
5.Cricket. pref England but any good match of cricket ;)

You'll note his children aren't in the running. and often 3 and 4 change places he says :-D especially if my Mom puts his cheese in the fridge or worse his manns brown ale in the summer  .

I especially like the bit that says "tomorrows photos" :-D
It's such a magical experience to see the picture grow like this, every time I think it can't get better and at every new showing it gains life and even more details, that look obvious when they're there. Amazing....

Must be twice that for you Kazz. Perfect present!

You've got it Emma....those big leaves on the left make a huge difference!!:D

I would like to see Kazz's reaction when she sees that update!;)

EmmaG
29-05-2006, 05:36 PM
Thanks Hreow :) yes Mags I am happier with the big leaves although I have darkened them up a bit, still not quite finished as I have a little bit more work on the fur as yet, but here is a photo of the drawing with a black mount around it, not that I would frame it with a black mount but I wanted to see what it would look like ;)

Emma, I'm curious...what are the dimensions of the picture? There's so much detail it must be fairly large...??

EmmaG
29-05-2006, 08:47 PM
Dandysmon the dimensions of the drawing are about 8 inches x 8 inches the paper being 11.5 inches x 16 inches

dandysmom
29-05-2006, 08:56 PM
Thanks! Still wonder how you can get so much detail in such a small space...you are amazing! When I get my picture of Leia I'm going to get it professionally framed, not a cheap frame from the store!

EmmaG
29-05-2006, 09:08 PM
Thanks dandysmom, for the detail I try and use my pencils as sharp as possible, (this is easier now thank to my new electric pencil sharpener ;) )

Well I am calling this one finished unless Karen wants anything changed :) all signed now, not a great photo but the best my camera will produce at this time in the evening ;)

Kazz
29-05-2006, 10:02 PM
There is nothing at all Karen would like changed. And may I take this chance to say;

Thank you Emma, the picture will be treasured for many many years as Cleo is as loved by the next generation down from me as she is by the generation up from me. :D Thank you for the time and trouble you have spent on this drawing, you have captured the very essence of Cleo. For that I will be always grateful.

P.S. Smudgley I will be sending you a donation I know you (Smudgley)
said I don't need to but as Emma does not accept payment for this fantastic works of art but asked for donations to cat rescue I will make a donation to yours. I consider the drawing to be priceless but will make a "reasonable" donation.

Thanks again everyone for your lovely comments and yes I agree with whoever said you could almost reach out and stroke her you can, its so realistic it can bring tears to your eyes.

Thank you Karen & Cleo.
