Violet asked to go out half hour ago, its dark and she has never been out in the dark before - I am worried she will not come back, I have tried calling her, seen her, but she will not come in.

She has not used her litter tray for poopsies since Saturday, and I think thats why she asked to go out. She is still using it for Wee's!

A very nervous and worried Mum to Violet x

Can you leave your door open a bit?? as she has been out before, I think she will be okay, she will come back when she wants to....

Sweet

I have left the back door open Moli - she goes out during the day when I am at home from work but never when its late and dark x

When the nights got milder, Cassie always used to stay out ages and was a pain to get in at night. I've noticed she has started it already, there are more little creatures beginning to move around in the evening now, which fascinates them.

Don't worry too much, I'm sure she is enjoying herself and will be back soon....

Thank you both xx She was chasing insects earlier today Mags, I am hoping she is doing that now and will come back sooner rather than later - God knows what I will be like when the Children are alot older and wanting to go out late at night x

I have had the same worry myself tonight Sweet. One of mine would not come in, he was charging round the garden and ignored my calls  All my cat's come to call so I knew he was just being defiant. He has just come in now ;) Sure Violet will come home soon. Keep calling her. This warmer weather encourages them to want to be out later me thinks!

Sweet

Thank You Fran I am hoping it is the warmer nights - when she comes back I will then not worry so much if it happens again another night x

It is always a worry the first time they go out at night Sweet but she will be back.....like all youngsters she has forgotten the time!

Sweet

I just saw her Mags (big relief) but she ran down the garden when I went out and called her and over the little wall to my Neighbours garden!

Its gonna be a late night and yep youngersters always forget the time! x

I used to have to tempt Cassie with a small piece of ham to get her in on summer nights.....the trouble is it has turned into a game for her as she will sit by the back door and won't come in until I give her a piece of ham every night!
If she comes into your garden again have something ready to tempt her...even if you have to throw small bits to her to get her closer.....

Sweet
28-03-2006, 11:12 PM
Violet does like ham, she wont eat anything else other than her normal food otherwise. She is most deff. the one in charge tonight x

Thank God she's home safe; now I can sleep myself; was so worried about her!! My 2 are indoors only; can hardly imagine how scary it would be to have one go out & not come back...

I can just imagine what a non-cat person would think if you were standing out in the garden throwing baked beans and shouting "Violet". How is the tiger after her great night out? Still on a high, or did she actually listen to the scolding she got?

Oh and baked beans!

i used to stand there in the garden calling BOYS and chinking a tin of cat food  my neighbours used to give me really strange looks :D especially the male neighbours

Rosie
29-03-2006, 08:59 AM
My Rosie loves going out at night but I have a catflap so I don't have to wait up for her. When the weather is milder she sits outside for hours in the dark waiting for some poor unsuspecting mouse or shrew to come along:)

Aww, Sweet what a scary evening you had. Glad Violet came home all safe and sound on her own - the little minx!

They are little monsters. Glad it all worked out well.:)
I remember an evening/night on the phone with my daughter who was sobbing and quite convinced that her boy was gone for ever :? Like Violet, he sauntered in, in his own time, looking for his supper.

It's good to have a treat with a noise attached (what?????.............well, before you give her a piece of ham, clink a fork on a plate, or use a special whistle/call, jange keys, anything, as long as you only use that noise for her favourite ham) and always give her ham after the noise.

Theory is, if she's in earshot - she'll come running!

Anyway, so glad all's well. Sorry I wasn't here to cyber-hold your hand last night, but pleased you had plenty of support.

Thank You once again all for your words last night and the ones left for me today............

Violet early today looks like she had a fur ball - but not sure what one looks like???? can anyone describe them???? sorry if this is too yucky at tea time!

Maybe thats why she wanted to go out last night? maybe she felt unwell ?

Just caught her doing a little poopsie in the garden and its loose not hard - sorry way to much info!

I must sound dumb but Violet is my only Kitten/Cat I have ever had so I really am a brand new Mum x

Hreow
29-03-2006, 04:36 PM
Yucky, hairy, wet ball of hair (bits optional). I'd say you were right. Some cats will eat grass just before, so probably right there as well.
Loose-hard, consistency varies. If she's a bit off colour talk to your vet tomorrow if she still is or if she still has liquid squits (dehydration's the worry there). (Straight to the vet if she's obviously struggling, of course.) Sounds as if she's had a slight tummy-tizzy, cats do at times. Just as we humans do. Can be food, nerves (excitement at being out in the *dark*?) - same as people. Is she eating/drinking as usual?
Is she up-to-date on her worming?

Sweet
29-03-2006, 04:42 PM
This is gonna sound way too grose! (spelling) .....

It was lumpy light brownish and bity.

Yes her worming is up to date x

If she's otherwise bright and bouncy, I wouldn't worry about it. Difficult to do, I know. :-)

Violet may have eaten something while she was out on her adventure last night Sweet......sounds like she is just getting rid of it from both ends!!

I agree with Mags; suspect it's something she ate on her escapade...if she seems otherwise OK, wouldn't worry...you must have grown a dozen grey hairs last night!!!

Sweet

Yes I did DM - Hope Mags is right, I will keep an eye on her.
