Just wndering if anybody has tried them. i didn't know until today that they do them. They look to be like the more preimuim style and they do:

senior
adult
kitten
light

and
hariball control.

limited flavours, but reasonable price. going to give them a go as getting tesco to deliver some stuff tonight. Wondering if anybody has tried them, or compared nutritional values of this and others like purina etc?

I have tried the kitten one once. It was good - can't say I actually looked too much at the nutritional value ( ) because I bought it because I had run out of my usual. It was nice small bits which the boys enjoyed and seemed pretty good. No problems with being sick or smelly litter trays (had big problems with this with James Wellbeloved kitten food). I don't think I'd mind using it again but I would be interested to see what the nutritional value and ingredients are like (since I didn't bother when I got it!). Good value for a more 'premium' product.

Let us know how you get on with CJ, please. :)

Is it the dry or the wet? I've only ever tried Tesco's dry food, and Ninja will not even look at it.

A friend bought me a few bits & pieces round for the rescue cats including some Tescos premium range kitten dry. Went down a treat!

Thought I'd go & compare nutritional value with some Purina Proplan & get a gold star for posting, but then remembered I used the last of the Tesco yesterday & threw the box away. So not sure on protein levels etc. but it seemed ok & Matildas babies said - yum yum! - But as we were running out they are now weaned onto the Purina which they also say is yum yum. In fact I think anything to them is yum yum:roll:

well, i dont have anything to compare it to but the tesco food ahs arrived. A little miffed at them,as i ordered one pack of kittena nd one of hairball control, they didnt have hairball control so sent adult, but on the checkout page i specifically added if they dont have thier own hariball control to send a pack of purina. anyway, here is the boring stuff:

kitten food

protein 34.5g
oils and fats 22.5g
fibre 1.8g
ash 5.6g
vit a 9000 iu/kg
vitamin d3 820 iu/kg
vitmain e 140 mg/kg
copper as copper sulphate 25mg/kg

ingredients

ceareals meat and animal derivatives (min 20% chicken)
oils and fats, fish and fish derivatives, minerals, dirivatives of vegetable origin, egg, various sugras, yeast

cereals contain : wheat flour, maize flour, red sorghum

adult cats with chicken

protein 32.5g
oils and fats 21.5g
fibre 1g
ash 6g
vitmain A 8100 iu/kg
vitamin d3 1250 iu/kg
vitmain e 140mg/kg
copper as copper sulphate 25mg/kg

ingredients:
cearelas meat and animal derivatives (min 20% chicken)
derivatives of vegetable origin
oils and fats
fish and fish derivatives
minerals

seems to be pretty much the same ingredients, but not sure of values as purina in % and tesco in grams!!!
seems to be pretty much the same though, similar price to purina 1.59 for 300g of tesco.

My kitties are turning their noses up at any wet food I put down for them at the moment. The best I can see is that they are licking the juice/jelly off and leaving the meat to dry out and not get eaten.

Rover does the opposite. He eats the bits and leaves the jelly. Glad he loves playing with water, as I suspect the extra water in the food is in the jelly. :-)

Tesco also do a really good finest range of catfoods which are good as treats. One of them has whole Tiger Prawns in and if your cats are anything like my alfie he adores it. There is only about 4 different flavours but Alfiesthinks there great and as a treat I felt great knowing he enjoyed it like he did.

I have taken this from an assignment I did on calculating the nutritionnal value of pet food. Sory it is quite long but it might help you a bit.

Dietary calculations and Ration formulation
Task one
Calculate the dry matter value for the nutrients on these food labels.

Whiskas: typical analysis; protein 8.1%, oil 4.0%, Fibre 0.3%, moisture 82.0%

Moisture 100-82 = 18 %
Protein 8.1% x 100 = 45%
18
Oil 4 .0 x 100 = 22.2%
18
Fibre 0.3 x100 = 1.7%
18

Winalot: typical analysis; protein 7.0%, oil 6.8%, Fibre 0.8%, moisture 80.0%

Moisture 100-80 = 20 %
Protein 7.0% x 100 = 35%
20
Oil 6.8 x 100 = 34%
20
Fibre 0.8 x100 = 4%
20

Task Two

Calculate the RER and the MER of the following healthy animals

1. A 6kg cat
RER (30 x 6) + 70 = 250 Kcal
MER 250 x 1.4 = 350 Kcal

2. A 15kg Cocker Spaniel
RER (30 x 15) + 70 = 520 Kcal
MER 520 x 2 = 1040 Kcal

3. A 20kg Border Collie
RER (30 x 20) + 70 = 670 Kcal
MER 670 x 2 = 1340 Kcal

4. A 30kg Labrador
RER (30 x 30) + 70 = 970 Kcal
MER 970 x 2 = 1940 Kcal
Task three

Calculate the digestible energy of the content of Oat Grain and Grass Hay using the information provided.

Oat grain:
3.25kg oat grain with an energy content of 19.6MJ/Kg
0.84 kg faeces DM contained 17.4 MJ/kg

Step one
3.25 x 19.6 = 63.7 MJ This number is the total energy intake.

Step two
0.84 x 17.4 =14.616 MJ This is the total faecal energy intake

Step Three
63.7 – 14.616 = 0.77
63.7

Step Four
19.6 x 0.77 = 15.1 MJ/Kg This is the digestible energy of the grain

Grass Hay:
2.38kg Grass Hay with an energy content of 18.9 MJ/Kg
0.78kg faeces DM contained 16.3 MJ/kg

Step One
2.38 x 18.9 = 44.98 MJ This number is the total energy intake.

Step Two
0.78 x 16.3 = 12.71 MJ This is the total faecal energy intake

Step Three
44.98 – 12.71 = 0.717
44.98

Step Four
18.9 x 0.717 = 13.55 MJ/kg This is the digestible energy of the grain

Merit 2

Task calculate the energy requirements for the following animals in different states. The answers are in green

1. An 80 kg Mastiff with moderate burns.
RER (30 x 80) + 70 = 2470
2470 x 2 = 4940Kcal

2. A 6kg Miniature poodle in the early stages of cancer.
RER (30 x 6) +70 = 250
250 x 1.25 =312.5 Kcal

3. A 25 kg Dalmatian on cage rest.
RER (30 x 25) + 70 = 820
820 x 1.25 =1025 Kcal

4. A 44kg Rottweiler recovery from severe surgery.
RER (30 x 44) + 70 = 1390
1390 x 1.5 =2085 Kcal

5. A 10kg Rough Collie puppy weaned to 50% adult weight.
RER (30 x 10) + 70 = 370
MER 370 x 2 = 740
740 x 2 =1480 Kcal

6. A 23kg Bulldog at peak lactation with a minimal litter size.
RER (30 x 23) + 70 = 760
MER 760 x 2 = 1520
1520 x 2 =3040 Kcal

7. A 68kg Saint Bernard in a very hot environment.
RER (30 x 68) + 70 = 2110
MER 2110 x 2 = 4220
4220 x 2.5 = 10550 Kcal

8. A 5 kg cat in the 1st trimester of pregnancy.
RER (30 x 5) + 70 = 220
MER 220 x 1.4 = 308
308 x 1.1 =338.8 Kcal

9. A 6kg cat in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy.
RER (30 x 6) + 70 = 250
MER 250 x 1.4 = 350
350 x 1.3 = 455 Kcal

Not sure if this help or not but I found it quite interesting.
