Tried to clip Eva's claws last week and she hit the roof, biting and hissing so i thought it best to get the vet to do it for me. Made an appointment for today at 3. At 2.45 I had to phone and cancel the appoiontment because I couldnt get her into the carry box, SHE WENT MENTAL!!!! She has never been keen on going in the box but today she was like a berserker. I am only releived by the fact that it wasnt an emergency. If any one has any tips on how to get a small mountain lioness into a carry box then please give me some tips. I leave the box out and its open, I also sometimes leave some treats in it so its not like it is something that only comes out when its time to go to the vets.
EVA THE DIVA STRIKES AGAIN.

Twix is a bit of a ****** to get into his box, what i have to do with him is hide the box in one room, usually in the doorway but out of sight. I then pick himup, and hold his front paws tucked into himself. I ahve the box up on end and literally put him down intoit head first, letting his paws go once his head is in, then the rest had to follow and quickly slam on the door, being as nice as possible to him of course!

Hmm I was thinking more along the lines of hog tying her and dragging her to the vets all trussed up:lol:

Honestly though you should have seen the carry on. She even managed to throw the carry box across the room, just missing poor old Winston.

Methinks she really has to go to kitty finnishing school and learn how to behave like a lady and not a Diva.

drug her! put sleeping pills in a nice treat for her! knock her out lol.

Only joking.

I can't suggest anything really, that's what i do with twix, as i foud it the only way to get him in. With oatmeal it's a cas eof shove his fat rear end until the other end goes in, but twix will fight scratch bite etc. they were fine as kittens but think they elarnt carrier means vets lol!

Eva is booked in again for next week. Have bought a new carry box, one of those top loading ones. My plan is to wrap her in a towel first. Winston is also booked in for his b/p check, think I might get them to check mine whilst there LOL.

I was going to suggest wrapping kitty tightly in a towel and getting her in, leaving the towel for her to sit on!!

i never thought of wrapping twix in a towel, but the way he fights i think it just as quick to shove him right in the box head first lol.

My old Ferdy was always a swine to get into the basket. I found the best way was to back him in. Kneel on the floor with knees open and basket between knees. Capture cat and shove him in bum first. That way he couldn't do his usual of splaying his legs out and resisting being put into the basket.

Good luck - your story paints quite a funny picture :-)

Success!!! I managed to get Eva to the vets today with a minimum of fuss. She was already snoozing in the box when it was about time to leave. So I very quickly and quietly put the door on it. When she awoke I gave her a prawn and off we went. She was a bit stressed out by the car journey and absolutely hated her manicure. At one point she had to be removed from the back of my neck:shock: But the vet was very good with her and pretty quick too. Vet said there was alot of cats with upset tummies recently and gave me some more probiotic supplements incase of any more upset. She is a little subdued this evening but did have a little play and cuddle:)
Winston was also in the vets today for his blood pressure check, which was just fine so he doesnt have to go back until april for another check and his blood tests. Will leave that till after his 21st birthday party though:D

This morning I have been busy clip. clip, clipping away LOL
Got Winstons done with very little fuss as usual, he is such a good boy:D And with Grahams help managed to get 3 out of 4 paws done on Bernie, he began to stress a bit so I decided to leave the last one for a bit and let him settle again.
Eva is behaving a wee bit like Samson after having his hair cut off LOL and cannt understand why her claws dont have the same impact nowLOL

When I clip Mr d's claws he helps by getting them out, usually to scratch me!

Glad you got her there in the end! Could I have a link to this top-loading carrier? Or did you not buy it online? It sounds like something I might want to try with Ninja :)

Pets at Home have them but the one here wasnt very helpfull and said they only buy in the small ones which are way too small for the Diva. I ended up getting one from the local pet shop at about half the price of Pets at home anyway.

pets at home are often quite pricey unless they got special offers on. They want £25 for 25kg of bunny food, hubby gets it for 12.45 for me, but that is with his works discount
