Oh dear - I've had an idea
Could have put this post in Gone but not Forgotten or Rescue Related, as it's relevant to both, but I thought I'd put it here and maybe get more eyes on it.

Anyway *clears throat* here's my idea.

Want to pay a lasting tribute to your old friend? And help his/her memory go on? And help a rescue at the same time?

Why not make a donataion to Cats Protection (through Smudgley) in return for having a cat/kitten named after your lovely puss?

I should have passed this in front of Smudgley first but hey, it's better to ask for forgivelness than permission, and I'm becoming reckless in my old age!

So, what do you think? Any ideas/refinements? I'm game if Smudgley is.

I think that's a good idea......
When I suggested Lucky as a name for Matilda, I was thinking along the lines of members departed pets......must admit I didn't think of the donation bit though, not a bad idea!

super idea!
not sure anybody else would want a cat called McGonagal though, after my dear baby who went to rainbow bridge aged 4 months.
My 7 year old named her after the professor from Harry potter that turns into a cat, we did call her maggie for short though.

Lovely idea though, count me in

Me too I like it ;) mind you I like lots of names but my problem always comes when matching the name to the cat - they never work always come up with something not on the list. I am certain cats name themselves when you first meet them :)

Well I would never have said I'd call a cat "Matilda" but then when hubby mentioned Matilda as a name suggestion, I just thought - yes it suits her & I really think she is a Matilda.

Thats is, the name just clicks into place and all of a sudden you can't see why it never dawned on you before - same with Oscar - all of a sudden it fitted.
