Anybody know what this means, when related to cats?

Here's an ad I saw

"8 weeks old, litter trained, cute & playful, black, tabby, turtleback"

That's all it said. :?

Beats me :smt102

Google's not helping at all. Maybe they mean what we call "een lapjescat" in Dutch (a cat made out of scraps of fabric, usually a tortie-and-white like Inca)? You could always contact them and ask.

I wondered if it was a tabby and white, with a lot of white, so the mottled markings look 'like' a turtles shell over the white?
Must be a local expression - there's nothing on google, as you say

DM could it possibly be a cat with the markings similar to the turtleback shell?

Could it be a tortoiseshell? Iv'e heard the terminology used once or twice before when speaking about torties, could be wrong in this case though....

I suspect it might be tortie - turtleback is very close to tortoiseshell . . .

I reckon it's a blotchy cat as opposed to a tabby:roll:

Maybe its someone who has gotten confused and heard the term tortoiseshell and though/it came out turtle shell instead - could be it could be like a friend of mine she has labs a black and a chocolate, but they also have a Pointer which is "liver" but she insists on calling her "chocolate" much to the annoyance of the breeds owners when they are at a show:roll:

Well, I reckon we've narrowed it down to either (most likely) tortoiseshell or a tabby/white with a lot of white, so the tabby sits on its back like a shell.
Doesn't matter - i was just intrigued.
