"FAT CAT JAIL
Owners face £5,000 fines or jail if their cats get FAT or go out at night. New laws will clamp down on people who do not follow strict rules on how to feed, walk and toilet-train ALL pets. The Animal Welfare Bill's code of conduct is expected to sail through Parliament. Leaflets will be sent to owners."

This was in a daily newspaper today!!

As usual, we have sensationalist media latching onto a "good story" and winding people up with no real cause.

This article, from the Times newspaper (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-2015978,00.html)(<<< clicky) seems a bit more reasonable.

I prefer my cats to go out at night because I think its safer for them - no people about to hurt them.

I beg to differ. I have a couple of noticible bits. Yip she is just a few pounds over but it adds to her charm as she knocks you to the ground:shock:

The noticible bits are my hair and bum.................dirty minds:lol:

Ninja goes out at night if he fancies, but he can come back into the house at any time... Wonder if that's acceptable, as he is very unhappy if he can't go out whenever he fancies.

Yeah CJK, what the hell is up with that? I'm most worried about the going-out-at-night bit, to be honest... Ninja's behaviour and happiness got so much better once we started letting him out when he wanted, I'd rather not change it again :?

My cats are slim, and stay in at night... so I wont be in trouble with the cat police!!!

The Bill applies to all vertebrates, but a code of conduct for invertebrates, such as lobsters, may follow.

so those with pet lobsters better watch out

if i had the *pet police* turn up on my doorstep id think some one was pulling a stunt. its PC gone mad

its great if it helps cats that need help get it but there are as many 2 thin cats out there as there are fat but i do agree with the not going out at nite BUT about about if you cat gets out and u cant find it like Scarlott did a few months ago she was gone 8 nites nowhere to be seen at all and if i had not gone looking for her i might never have seen her again
