View Full Version : Little ghost cat
Little ghost cat,
Sometimes I hear your gentle purr
And feel the soft touch of your fur.
Then, late at night old memories stir
Of the friend I loved and lost.
Little ghost cat,
By moonlight now you come and go
Unseen, and, like moving water flow
Through my dreams, calling as of long ago,
O friend I loved and lost.

Mags that is lovely and made me think fondly of some of my lost cats.
Mags its so very very true. Thank you.
That's a beautiful tribute to Oscar and Lucky and all cats that have left a hole in their owners' hearts. It's true - they never really do go away :-)
I finally plucked up the courage to read this, Mags. Glad I did despite the flow of tears. It just brought Toby closer still. Thank you.
I'm sorry if it upset anyone.....it really wasn't meant to:? :(
You haven't upset me Mags but you know what they say "no sense no feeling";) Its a lovely poem and so true.
Never been anything but okay Mags. Sad sometimes but no regrets.:D

I've only 1 regret and thats that I didin't have Toby longer. 10 months wasn't enough.:( :( :(
I know you didn't mean to upset me, Mags. I'm glad you posted it.:) :) :)
I feel for you Kay more than someone like myself whose cat has lived a long happy and secure life for 23 years I would be devestated if I lost a young cat 10 months is a baby but well and truely old enough for you to know you are meant for each other.
I am sorry you lost him, but pleased you had the gift of knowing him and he you.

Thanks Karen. I did feel Toby and I were mean't for each other from the very first time I saw him at 3 days old. I suppose there are two ways off looking at it, yes Toby was far too young to have had his life snatched away but you have far more memories, comforting as they are they are also what reminds us they are no longer with us.
10 months or 23 years the time we share with them makes no difference we have both got a cat shaped space in our lives, and a tear in our hearts.
The desolation of loosing a much loved cat is something we risk when we decide to share our lives with them, but the joy far outweighs the heartache.
