Did you hear an article on the radio yesterday? Said cook for about 1 hour for a 8lb bird  , on highest setting, on highest possible shelf, use a meat thermometer, make sure it hits temperature and then leave to rest/finish off cooking outside the oven for about another hour.
Won't be trying it - don't eat domestic poultry

If anyone tries it, let us know how it works (once the slmonella subsides!)

Don't forget that if you stuff your turkey that it will require an increased cooking time. I always cook the stuffing seperate in little balls

I once cooked the turkey and came to carving it up, only to find I had left the giblets in the plastic bag still inside!!! Needless to say gave the meat nearest the plastic bag to my then husband!!!!

Am buying completely fresh this year as I have a very traditional butchers at the end of my road that has been there FOREVER. Hopefully fresh means no plastic bags with "bits" inside :?
