Does anybody else use goose fat for roasting their potatoes in? Last year I saw so many cookery programs recommend goose fat that I thought I would have a go, boyfriend said it was a waste of money....that was until he tasted the potatoes, guess what he says this year, don't forget the goose fat!!!! :-D :-D :-D :roll:

I like to use beef dripping for my potatoes......never tried goose fat....

Now I looked at goose fat the other day did it really make a difference to the roasties?

Like Mags, I always use beef dripping. Will give goose fat a go if it really is good :D

It is wonderful!!!!! I normally use lard but the potatoes seem to come out lighter with a slightly sweeter taste. I would recommend people give it a try! :)

i just put mine in with what ever meat i am cooking at the time
would like to try it if its that good

Now this is where I'm boring and do mine with a drizzle of olive oil only. Years of vegetarianism I think .............

I like my potatoes in olive oil!!! unfortunately my boyfriend doesn't :( so we used to use lard, until we used the goose fat

I love roasties, but only ever use olive oil, as my teenage kids are both vegetarians!

I bought a tin of goose fat today ready for the Christmas roasties:-D
It is quite expensive though isn't it!:shock:

Yes Mags it is quite expensive I think I pay about £2.99 per tin. When I cook for just the two of us I only use half a tin. I also use it a couple of times as well, mind you last time I cooked roasties in it the potatoes just seemed to suck up all of the fat :shock: They were lovely and crispy though, and I find goose fat very very light so they don't seem to be very greasy :)

I paid about £2.99 as well Emma. Can't wait to try it out at Christmas....I've got 7 for Christmas dinner and I'm not going to mention the goose fat until after......just to see if anyone notices anything different!:-D
Yes I got it in Sainsburys....can't say I had ever noticed before you mentioned it!

I usually use Kind Edwards or Maris Piper for my roasties!
