Well it's turned out a lovely day here - a little chill but the sun is shining and the sky is clear.
Dinah and I have been to our nearest walk - literally up the lane (traffic-free) behind the house. There is tarmac path, fields and a woody bit all within 3 minutes of the house. Great. It was a factor when we bought, as well as the no-through-road we actually live on (cat safety!)
Thought you might like pics of the rolling Dorset countryside etc.

You can't actually see my rooftop but it's sort of 'in' this lot, down a little dip. You can see the lovely blue sky. Don't think we're due snow - do you?

and here's the light wood (as opposed to the big wood, which is a different walk, down the hill by the river)

and this is town, from the lane.

Thanks guys. Yes it is a great place to live - or we think so anyway. We have all the benefits of living 'out of town' - quiet/dog walks/200m of lane with no street lights - so we see the stars! - but, 10 minutes walk and we're in town with everything you could need - all the banks, Smiths, Boots, Woolies, coffee shops, proper butchers, cheap clothes (Mackays), expensive clothes (boutiques) etc etc. Indian, Chinese, Italian, Turkish restuarants plus 3* hotel, numerous pubs with food and 2 bistros, one licenced one BYO. Add a chocolate factory shop and a brewery - good heavens what more could anyone need? :)
