thought it would be an idea to have one of these threads and add to it, well at dinner times, as we like to have an insight to one and other.......
so tonight we are having beef casserole, with winter vegetables and dumplings, the smell of it cooking right now is driving the cats insane, and then the smell of pudding which is a chocolate sponge, hand made by moi earlier is making the dogs a little to willing to please.
so what are you having for your dinner tonight?
Thats easy. Curry. the deliverd kind LOL

We're having 'griddled cold-smoked salmon fillets on puy lentils with nutmeg-dusted spinach', as a poncy recipe would say! :) It's one of my favourite dishes, minimal preparation, cooked in less than 40 minutes, not much clearing up and it's really yummy (and it's good for you - omega-3 fish oils, low GI and vitamin C and fibre  )
Bon appetit everyone, whether you're having a feast or fish'n'chips (and there's something to be said for both of those)

Nice nosh tonight -
Local lamb & rosemary sausages (from the farmer's market) with mash, onion gravy and caramelised onion rings.

We're having French Country casserole. Lumps of lamb slowly cooked with apricots, leeks and fresh mint in a rose wine sauce. Then sliced potatoes layered on top...its one of my favourites...not least because theres three quarters of a bottle of wine left:D

Chilli Con Carne for us with rice and garlic bread, it's just cooking now and is smelling yummy.....

Where do you buy goose fat from???? Or the beef dripping mentioned?
I'm not sure about the goose fat Donna but you can buy beef dripping (if you don't make it yourself) from the supermarket on the butter/fats shelf....
You can get goose fat from Sainsbury's they have it by the fresh veg/potatoes in mine.
EmmaG
11-12-2005, 07:48 PM
I buy my goose fat from Sainsburys - they usually have it on an end isle in a tin labeled La Truffe Graisse D'Oie (Goose Fat) 350g - it is in a black/dark green tin with a cream label
Thats it Emma :D and by the way it was gorgeous :-D the roasties and parsnips were lovely cooked in it - roll on Christmas:-D

It can be quite amusing when you have an allotment in full production. People just 'don't see you' as you near them with yet another plastic bag full of beans/tomatoes/lettuce etc!

http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_34.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxdm824YYGB)We finished the 'christmas food' last night. Woo-hoo!!!!!!
Well, I've got a few (uncooked) sprouts left, so I'll boil them lightly, mix them with cubed leftover potatoes, pan fry it in a cake, like a higher class bubble & squeak, (!:) !) and pop a couple of fried eggs each on top.
Mmm, mouth watering already!
EmmaG
29-12-2005, 04:46 PM

Yes I have tried the lemon and corriander one as well!!!! lol the chicken with the bacon and two lots of stuffing is my favourite!!! They all seem to be very good.
Chicken Kiev for us tonight. Incidently, we tried the Birds Eye steamed fresh fish yesterday, the haddock and leek one. I enjoyed it. Hubby found a bone  so it didn't get great ratings from him :(
EmmaG
25-01-2006, 11:27 PM
Oh Fran, that is a shame I haven't found a bone yet in any we have eaten. I had better watch out.
Oh Fran, that is a shame I haven't found a bone yet in any we have eaten. I had better watch out.
I didn't get a bone either Emma. But I did see hubby's bone so know he wasn't making it up. He has a real aversion to fish if it has bones in it. Typical it was his that had a bone in it and not mine

25-01-2006, 11:32 PM
Oh I know men Fran, they are like a magnet for something that bothers them :)
last night was part baked petite pain (soft ones cos my false teeth dont like crusty) with sausages and home fries. Exciting hey!?!?!
last week i did some nice dinners, chicekn n rice with bbq sauce, diced pork stew n dumplings ( one of my fav's) pasta n tuna.
I hate cooking though, so they were all done in the slow cooker, cos u cant really muck it up and it tastes far nicer.
Chicken casserole tonight! Just off to chuck it all in slow cooker in a minute!
