Just been quoted the cost of having my kittens done

£125.90 for both to be done but I get an additional 10% off for taking 2 of them in so I get to pay £113.

With prices like that no wonder half the general public don;t bother getting their cats done

They are booked in for middle to end of Feb so atleast I get a couple of months to save the money

Sounds quite expensive to me too.
Any chance of a Cats Protection/PDSA/RSPCA scheme nearby?

Vet told me they are both the same the price price and it'd be £65-odd each.

Yep def gonna get another quote. It's handy at my vets as they are within walking distance and as I'm not allowed to drive at the moment I'm gonna have to rely on OH to get me back and fore to the vets.

Are boys cheaper to get done than girls?

They should be Janey. With a male its just snip a small hole, pop it out and pull! twice of course! No stitches nothing. With a she Cat its an op, inside with bits taken out and bits tied off, and of course external stitching or glueing too.

The RSPCA and SSPCA did have a scheme (sp) that they did either for £25. Leave it with me and I'll find out more for you tomorrow. Its only certain vets that do it for them so Id ring arround if I were you. I'll find out from my friend tomorrow if they are stil doing it for you if you want.

Prices vary a lot from practice to practice. One vet locally charges £35 - for a cat spay which I think is reasonable.

Well I asked at our vets today and spey is £34.95 and Neuter is £24.95 and ours is one of the dearer practises in the area.....

So for one girl and one boy the total cost at our vets would be £59.90

I've done some phoning round and have found a vet that can spay her for £35 so I guess I'll be going there to have her done. She will be done in the New Year around Feb time.

Well I must say, that compared to our prices here, that's cheap.. And you say that's for both of them?

I paid £100 to get my female cat spayed and about £70 to get Oliver neutered and we are talking 1996 and 1997, so its probablely gotten more expenssive..

Girls are more expensive than boys. When I had Misty and Chloe done, they were about £35 each. I had a voucher from the cats protection towards the cost so that helped a bit.

Also, my vet did my girls through "keyhole" surgery in their sides so they only had one or two stitches each which I thought was brilliant!! Although Misty ripped hers out in a day!! The vet just said leave it as the hole was so small. Was a brilliant job. Glad I had them done now !!
