Oh my gosh what adorable cats!! I'd be interested to know what type/mix Scooter is, as my Mum has a calico that has an almost identical face!

Lovely to meet you Dawn, hope to hear more about you and your kits in due course.

Thanks again all, yes Fran, thats the camera! You only get a standard lens though, I have bought a 28mm-135mm image stabilser lens and an ultrasonic 70mm-300mm one for stuff a bit further away.
Dawn.

Dawn.

Under what circumstances would you use the 28mm-135mm lens Dawn?

borderdawn

Hi Fran.
I use that one for normal shooting and for close ups, its much better for things like portraits and macro shots, and with the image stabilizer it helps to steady the shot.

Fran

Thanks for that Dawn :) ....how good is the lens that comes with the camera?

Tom

borderdawn

Thanks Tom Cat.

Its ok Fran and you can buy the camera without the lens if you want to. Its a standard 18-55mm lens.
Dawn.

Thanks Dawn...will have to look into it. Where would you suggest the cheapest and best place to get one. Perhaps without the lens and then buy the 28mm-135mm lens?

http://www.warehouseexpress.co.uk/photo/digicameras/Canon.html?cd=200511013#350d

This is quite reasonable just the body, no lens.

This is the lens I have, but you can get the same focal length etc.. much cheaper if you dont have the image stabilzer and you can get other good makes like Tamron or Sigma that are very good quality.
