An honorary kitten from Louisiana told me about this message board, so here I am! I'm friends with several of the newer members here: We've been looking for a nice on-line home; and I think this board is exactly the right place to be.
Presently I keep two cats: Blue is a new addition to the household, whilst Tonya has been with me for several years. I'll post photographs of them soon. Thank you all, for being here!

Thank you, John! Well, I'm hoping to become more active here within a few days. I've been fiddling with the Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC) (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/) quite a bit lately, changing projects and so forth; and the fine-tuning part has consumed a lot of time.
One project, Einstein@Home (http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/), deals with quasars; another, SETI@home (http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/), involves reception of signals from deep space; and the third one I'm participating in, ClimatePrediction.Net (http://www.climateprediction.net/index.php), deals with just that — climate prediction. I just got around to requesting a certificate from the University of California for my SETI@home work:

So, there! I encourage everybody to check out those projects and see if they'd like to contribute some of their computing-system power to the worldwide effort. End of sales pitch!
