A friend of mine got a toty wee kitten from the cat protection leauge (sp) three weeks ago. The thing is he has started to bite. It's sore and happens all the time. What should she do to stop it?

When I first got Cassie she used to bite me as well.....she was very nervous and I think that was why she did it. Whenever it happened I just said a firm "No" to her, it lasted for about a year but then she stopped and is alright now.

Yes I thinking 'screaming OUCH' when he does it and ignoring him for a bit, is meant to help as you are letting him know its not acceptable...

that would work Jac as long as he dont see him do it
but just putting him down and saying no should work

I'd be more interested in finding out why he's doing it / when / what triggers it before looking at ways of stopping it - this may help identify the problem.

I know what you mean John but when Cassie used to do it at the start, her ears used to go flat on her head and there was fire in her eyes....I always knew what was coming and I was prepared! Thank goodness she stopped it as I think her teeth would do a little more damage these days!!

I only saw the kitten for about half an hour. You can clap it for a bit then it BITES, when put on the floor it then goes for your ancles, leg or what ever is there.
I'm wondering if it's ferrell, there was no background on it. It's so pretty though.

It could have had little human contact Jac...
I got Cassie from someone who lived in the country and kept the kittens in a shed (no light) which was in a field 5mins drive away from her house:( I don't think any of the remaining kittens had any contact at all......I wish I could have taken them away with me:(
Cassie has always been nervous of strangers and I did put her biting down to her timidness.....Fortunately she has grown into a lovely cat now:cool:
