Ooooo, a subject close to my heart . We've never taken our kids abroad, we prefer to holiday in the UK and we've seen some lovely parts of the country. Wales is beautiful, we've been there the last few years. Cardigan Bay and surrounding areas have some stunning coastal views. Llangollen and round about is great for walking. Scotland, I would thoroughly recommend Aberdeenshire as a place to visit (just couldn't live there again lol). Glorious walks and jaw dropping scenery. If you can, do the Perth to Aberdeen tourist route. Takes you through some of the best views in the world imo. Up the Glenshee pass, past Balmoral and Royal Deeside Another favourite is St Ives, Newquay etc. Almost like being abroad if the sun shines. I also love the Lake District, and the walking is amazing there, although obv I haven't done that in a long time . The Ayrshire coast is a lovely drive and an easy hop over to some of the islands from there And of course, pop in to Glasgow for a bit of shopping . I think that's enough to keep you going for a while |

And if you fancy urban with a short hop into London you could always stop over here Other places I'd recommend are Derbyshire, specifically the little town of Ashbourne. We went in winter and it was magical. Hutton le Hole in N. Yorks is lovely, and a gateway to some of the most amazing sights in the UK including the wild moors. |

Thank you everyone, I have decided in June I am going to get in the car and drive ........... trying to decide North to Scotland or South to actually StIves/carbis Bay. Depending on which way I will arrange coffee and cake with people on route I think. I may even try to sort out hiring a VW camper van for a couple of days or so either way. Just to know I have done it......... |
