Re: Holiday snaps

Enjoyed seeing your pics, Shelley; looks like a nice place to visit, and that you all had a good time. Liked the pic of the oyster catcher; have heard of that bird but never seen one, what a long orange bill. Hubby in pic one not quite as I'd visualized him ...... Who leaves eggs just lying on the beach??

Re: Holiday snaps

Eileen, that particular Oyster Catcher was the terror on the beach. it was always in the same area and reacted badly when anyone ventured anywhere near it's territory, there were others that didn't bother you at all. This one immediately began squawking and flying around you in tight circles. One day i went alone to video it, through the view finder i could see it glaring at me, all of a sudden it took off screaming and flew straight for me, i'm afraid there was some very bad language on the film :O
I saw three nests like the one in the picture, each with 3 eggs in. Not sure if they were Oyster catchers eggs or not, but there nests are called scrapes which is basicaly what these were, just scrapes in the sand amongst the pebbles.
I only saw them because i was looking for pebbles.

Re: Holiday snaps

Looks like you had a brilliant time, good pictures too. the pup has grown, like Eileen your hubby picture is not quite how I imagined him I saw him as more a hat than a neckerchief person.

You were seriously hooked enough to consider a caravan.....Wow. Have you ever been to the Argyll area of Scotland? I love it there.

Re: Holiday snaps

Yes Karen we are hooked and considering a caravan. What puts us of a bit is that it's 3 1/2 hours away and nowerdays you have to think of the petrol. No we haven't been to Argyl.
The Gorilla in the pic belongs to a lovely shop, there was a bucket beside him for donations towards the RNLI if you wanted to have your pic taken.
