Short Break

Treated myself to a short break, left on friday afternoon with my sister, her dog (Holly) and Rayne. We rented a small cottage in Tomintoul, near the ski resorts. SWe knew there would be snow there but were completely unaware that it'd be 3 to 4 feet of snow . Could only walk on the roads but the cottage was lovely. In order to give the dogs a good walk we drove 40 miles to Findhorn. Rayne learned to swim after she ran into the sea after Holly, after that there was no stopping her .

Thought you had been quiet........did you try your feet at skiing???

Looks lovely Elaine.....a well earned rest too.

Rayne looks almost grown up in the picture on the dunes.

Ah ............ the magic valley of Findhorn ............. I remember the stories about that place. Is the Community still there?

Glad you had a good time Elaine, even with the snow!

Wasnt as cold as it looks. You know how I hate driving and ladder hill was pretty scarey, especially when you get stuck behind a snow plow and a tractor . Was terrified the van would start going backwards, but I made it. My sister did some of the driving. We only managed to get through 3 bottles

No skiing for us although I think Rayne would have loved snow boarding . It was restful, just wish I could have stayed another few days. Rayne is a big girl now isnt she?

The Foundation is still there Angie, infact I am trying to book a caravan there for a week in the summer.
The snow was very deep. My sisters dog Holly needs rough grass to poo on, my sister tried to get her up an embankment to get to some rough grass and fell through the snow up to her waist, I just stood there wetting myself

Glad you got a well deserved break, although all that snow seems a bit much! And the beach looks so desolate in Winter, doesn't it?

Re: Short Break

Hope you're enjoying your holiday Elaine

You should come to Yorkshire one summer - gorgeous weather during the summer months! (usually)

Re: Short Break

I love beaches in winter too Karen. Elaine, it looks wild, cold and beautiful up there - lucky you to manage a few days to escape - probably just what the doctor ordered!

I had a colleague that used to go to Findhorn regularly, he loved it and showed me lots of pics of his dog on the beach. I understand it's quite a favourite dog-walking spot

Just looked it up on the map and it's actually quite close to where I went on one of my only 2 visits to Scotland; we went to the Black Isle back in 1988.

Glad you had a good time.
