I had a tiger cat named Merlin for 16 years. She passed away last year but I love the name. And your Merlin is beautiful.

Re: Hello from 25 cats!

Up until October we had 27. Sadly we lost one to vaccination sarcoma and one to hemo barton. But our house is always filled with love. And you never get cold in the winter!

Re: Hello from 25 cats!

Is that a sarcoma potentially caused by a vaccination site?

What is hemo barton, not heard of that?

Re: Hello from 25 cats!

Hemo barton is short for hemabartonella. This is when a flea bites your cat and the flea transmits a parasite into your cats blood stream. The parasite latches onto a red blood cell and sucks it dry and then moves on to the next one until the cat is dead. There is very little warning and it moves quickly. The treatment is antibiotics, but they don't always work. We had one cat successfully treated and then we treated all cats with frontline. But apparently we didn't get it soon enough with Nosey and she passed away Monday. We had no evidence of fleas in our house and stunned that this happened.
And yes the sarcoma happened at a vaccination site. I lost my best friend because of this. I lost my baby I raised from day one with a baby bottle. He had a long courageous fight but it spread to his lungs. The pathology report said it was vaccination sarcoma.
