Blue Free Range Eggs~

Christopher went to visit some mutual friends today who have moved to the country and are organic farming...they sent me these lovely eggs! The color would not come out right in the pics...they are really a very pale blue. And I actually know the name of the hen who laid the brown ones....Lydia! When you buy them at the market you just don't get that personal touch...

They're lovely Eileen - I like the look of the brown ones too! What are you going to cook up with them?

Why are the blue? I love buying from the farm and what a lovely name for a hen

Re: Blue Free Range Eggs~

Actually brown ones have always been my favorites, even though I know there's no nutritional difference whatever from whites...but somehow they just look richer! I got that from my Mom, she always bought browns.

Anyhow, Thursday is cook's night off in this house: I was just having a tuna sandwich, crisps and some sweet corn, but decided bacon and scrambled eggs with some fresh herbs from the garden would be very very tasty.....
And ham fu yung beckons soon also....
It's not even 4 pm and I'm making myself hungry.....

Don't know why, I just know some breeds lay blue or green colored eggs, but they're all the same inside .....

I agree, Lydia is a nice name for a hen...wish I could keep a few!

My two cats (Merlin and dear Smudge) never took any notice of the chickens apart from when they first arrived. The chickens went for the cats and they never bothered them again. It's dogs that cause more trouble for chickens.
