Re: Pastel workshop - WIP so far

Emma - that's lovely. The translucency of the bowl is very difficult to capture but I think you've as near as got it!!!

It makes me yearn for art classes again. I used to adore pastels; did my A level main drawing in pastels which the examiners hated (the were all oil afficianados) and marked me down for it. My teacher was horrified. But thankfully pastels are now getting the attention they deserve.

Love the play of light and shadow! and it's fascinating to see it grow. Would happily pay to stand at the back of the class and just watch the magic in progress.

Re: Pastel workshop - WIP so far

Yola if you enjoy pastels you really should take it up again, there are so many amazing pastels and wonderful papers available nowadays, I think an art teacher should never be horrid to any of their students, that just isn't right, I wonder how many potentially very good artists are put off my a terrible teacher.

Deester you really would have enjoyed it, perhaps if Dianna ever comes to the UK again you could try and get on her course, just watching her is amazing.

Thanks everybody else, this WILL get finished tomorrow, I think I will be happier once it is all completed, all but one student on the class is still working on this piece, Dianna actually said today "hmmm I have given you quite a difficult one to paint" lol
