Grrr..........Insurance Companys!!!!!

I had an accident on Friday, swerved to avoid a Deer and hit concete edging round drain covers, managing to mangle 2 alloys and 2 tyres....Got a tow truck out and they took the car to the garage....So phoned the insurance company to register the claim...which is no too bad, each alloy is £200, and the tyres about £100...
They would not do anything till they had spoken to my Hubby, who is the main driver on this car, he spoke to them, and they would get back to me today...
They have just phoned, will not put the claim through until my Hubby emails them and verifies I am who I say I am.... He is in America!!!!I had the accident....
What a lot of B****y nonsense!!!

Re: Grrr..........Insurance Companys!!!!!

Yes, that sort of thing annoys me too. Our credit card company is the same - I am the main cardholder and OH is an additional card holder on the same account. We have recently had a lot of fraudulent use of the account and have had a lot of chat with their customer services. It's always OH's card that is used but they will only speak to me!!!

Sorry about your car Moli - I suppose the damage would have been worse if you'd hit the deer, which I hope was unscathed. Must have been a shock for you - you OK?

Sounds almost worth pursuing at a higher level with the company - this is bad business for them and for you. Surely if you are on the insurance and you had (and reported) the accident, you should be able to deal with it?.
Maybe change to Sheila's Wheels next year - they're not misogynist?

Re: Grrr..........Insurance Companys!!!!!

Shocking! These people treat everyone like idiots when it is their own gross incompetency they are trying to disguise!!

Don't talk to me about insurance companies - OH is still wrangling with NU about his write off. Today they are ripping the hire car away because he hasn't produced his documents . . . these were in the car which NU took from the body shop WITHOUT telling him and scrapped. When the contents of the car were delivered back to us via courier the documents (MOT, insurance, etc etc) were not in the car

I have now given him the details of the woman who I dealt with at NU at the 'chairman's office' who eventually resolved my burglary claim . . . so I would strongly recommend you take it higher - it does seem to work!

(sorry for the thread hijack and rant )

**edit to say, I'm now with Diamond which also do a 'women only' policy (OH's covered as additional drivers only )

Sorry Moli - should have said that I'm delighted you weren't hurt (and , to a lesser extent, pleased that the deer got away with it too)

Ohhhhh Moli glad to hear that both yourself and the deer are OK and both unhurt it must have been a real shock though

I loath dealing with insurance companys and the likes they drive me insane you just feel half the time like you are going round in circles .

Hope you get it sorted out soon.

My favourite rant - poor service esp from Ins Co's.

Glad to hear it was only the car that suffered and that you are fine, as was the deer.
