Meet Murray.We were asked to take in amouse yesterday who had been dumped by some student in their garden, the neighbour took him in but didn't want to keep him, so he is coming to live with us. He is a lovely colour and we have named him Murray because he is the colour of Murray mints.  This is his cage, the neighbour got his cage from the students when he confronted them.  We will look at getting him something bigger at the weekend!

He's lovely! I had mice when I was at school, fab pets! Mine were black and white-Marmite and Pretzel! Would love to have some again some day. Murray is very lucky to have found such a fab home with you Farthing, how could someone just dump him like that! |

What a shame the students didn't care more for their pets. I had Russian (and ordinary) hamsters when I was at college. Still shocked to this day when my then boyfriend said 'all you have to do is flush them down the loo when they die'. Mine were buried with full goth ceremony at Kinver Edge beneath the stone caves. I'm sure Murray will have a long and happy life with you now Farthing. |

We went and bought Murray a Mikey Max cage today, not as big as I would have liked but the biggest we could find locally. I have to admit I'm horrified at the size of cages sold for small animal- mind you I'm horrified at the space allocated to most animals. Anyway, we've been delighted to hear his lttle wheel sqeaking away most of the evening. We also bought him a small hamster igloo, a wooden tunnel and a cardboard tunnel. The cage gives him about 4 times the space ( including the shelf) compared to his other cage. I've bought a £4 fleece from Yesco and plan to mkae some hammocks for him and the rats ( although I'm not sure if the rats will use them as one is very poorly.) |
