Kazz, hope you don't mind my asking, but, as a non-driver, I've always wondered: why do people name their cars?

Re: Like loosing a friend

I have no idea Eileen...you just do or don't as the case may be maybe its because we spend time in them and they do have quirks or their own...

My first car was a Ford Escort MkII called Gordon..as in Flash Gordon...because it had been "done up by a young lad" .
My next was an old Austin Allegro called Prudence....it suited her.
My next a Nissan Sunny...called James because it never let me down.
My next a Ford Escort brand new..called Scarlett because she was bright red.
My next a Hyundi which I hated, never named it. Got rid of it fast as I could even though it was brand new.
My next was Nissan Micra called Millie. She was little and thoroughly modern.
My next was the Rover who was named very swiftly Roger... following the James senario always reliable.

I havea friend who names her cars too always following flowers...and herbs ie Poppy, Sage etc.

I know a few people who name their cars may be worth a new thread itself.
