Please Welcome Dora!

Here is our wee foster puppy Dora. She arrived from Tipperary yesterday with her brother, sister and mother. One of her sisters has been rehomed in Ireland, the others are all fostered here in England.

As I've said before, she is being fostered with us until we can be sure that I am not allergic to her and that we can all (Monty, the cats and us!) cope with her.

Luckily, she seems to have inherited her mother's gentle nature but she is a puppy still and I am a bit worried about the size of her paws! I will try to take a photo with a ruler so you can get an idea of the size of them! It seems that all the pups could have a different father and, from Dora's colouring alone, she could have a Rottweiler or a Doberman for her dad!!! Her mother is a Whippet cross and she has some lurcher characteristic already, like counter surfing, not quite able to reach YET and trying to get all Monty's head in her mouth at once!

We are not doing very well with house-training her yet but it is early days.

We have an appointment with our vet on Friday for a check up, weigh and microchip.

She's aDORAble Angie.
It's no wonder you are having trouble house training her, given her circumstances. I'm sure she will get the hang of it soon. How old is she ?
Are you taking her into the garden to go ?

She is a smasher..........at least she is ony trying to get Monty's head in her mouth not all of him.

Its early days yet and everything is new too her. Just remember to think she won't be little for long and would you let an adult dog do that if not don't let her.

Very wise words Kazz - I have seen adult dogs where bad behaviour has gone on. We are telling Dora "No" and distracting her when she does something we don't like and of course loads of praise and treats for good behaviour.
