Bramble the Miracle Cat, June 1995-March 2010

My beautiful cat Bramble was put to sleep yesterday morning after a long battle with cancer. She had beaten it before and survived almost another 3 years despite having been given a maximum of only 3 months at the time, earning her the name 'miracle cat' from the vet staff at our local surgery. Sadly she just wasn't strong enough to fight the cancer off this time.

I was brought up with her from the age of 3 and she was like a mother, sister and best friend all rolled into one. She belonged to next door but soon left and adopted me as her 'kitten' instead! When I was a child she would sit on my lap while I was crying and let me stroke her until I stopped. Very brave because I can imagine how loud and scary it must have been for her! She repeated the favour again when my dad died and she was always there for me if I needed a hug or a kiss or just someone to talk to. She was the most gentle cat I've ever met and knew just how to behave around kids; Never scratching or biting, just using the 'mum-glare' to warn anyone off if they annoyed her!

As we both grew older, I like to think that I repaid her with the love, attention and care that she deserved. She really was one of a kind, a true cat among cats. I miss her more than anything and I will never, ever forget her.

Rest in peace muffin x

That was a very special bond you have (I say have because the bond is still there even though she is not), with Bramble. She did her best but ultimately lost her battle.

RIP puss.

What a beautiful tribute to a well loved very special cat! I can really feel for you as my childhood cat was very very much like that; they can be such a comfort in the growing-up years..

RIP, dear Bramble, you fought the good fight, and are at peace now.
