I'm sticking too. We visited CC's tomb in Dominican Republic some 20 years ago and as that was a Spanish colony I'm kind of thinking it might be Spain.

Wasn't Magelen Portuguese and Galileo Italian?

Nationality - Born in Italy. Lived in Portugal and in Spain. Patrons - King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain.

He is claimed by the Italians born in Genoa, his nationality is disputed and Spain & Portugul also claim a stake.

I really had an unfair advantage there, as we had very large numbers of Italian immigrants in the cities around the turn of the century, and Columbus Day was always a huge event; it's actually a legal holiday here.
