Well my cousin who is with social services, and is a child counciller, said if a family member is suspected or involved, no matter how closely related, the child would be put into "protection" and its normal for them to do that. She said not to read too much into it at this point. She did say however, there may be a good reason for it, but whether there is or there isnt, we'll have to wait and see.

As I said, I hope nobody "closer" is involved.

Not unless the mother or her partner is a cause for concern. (ie lack of supervision, safeguarding or the threat is still there). It isn't however 'usual' not to allow a mother and daughter to see each other following such an ordeal. She can see her daughter through a one way mirror but Shannon can't see her. This would only be done if seeing that person may interfere with the evidence, so they must think mum is in someway related to the abduction. this can be in a number of ways and at the moment a lot of rumours and stories are circulating.
It doesn't detract from the fact though a little girl is in the middle of all of this and for whatever the 'outcome' is she will never be the same again.
