Sutton park is approx 2,400 acres consisting of woodlands, heathlands and wetlands. The entire park was designated a National Nature Reserve by English Nature. I was where King Henry VIII hunted, and has a hunting lodge in there, in recent history it also had an Italian Prisoner of War camp the park during WWII .

The site is included in English Heritage's list of historic parks and gardens and most of the site is also a Scheduled Ancient Monument. This former royal deer park has retained many ancient features including prehistoric mounds and a Roman Road.
