Re: Garden Makeover

No.not doing the raised beds thing, nor alpines. Love the weathered look of a cedar fence so it's staying au naturel, so to speak! And yes will be getting some trellises. But appreciate the sort of offer: you could come help dig big planting holes for the roses ....Actually I think I'll enlist Carlos the handyman to help with that!

Re: Garden Makeover

These are the two climbers I've ordered. The other two are shrub roses......
Variagata di Bologna...old Bourbon rose

New Dawn climber...

I like the old roses...

Re: Garden Makeover

What a fab fuchsia, Kazz! I've bookmarked that too.

Did you post pics, Dandysmom? If so, I don't seem to be able to see them. Sad about that.

I planted bamboo too! THREE of them - I call them "the Muriels", they have been quite well behaved, clumping sort luckily. They can (as you described) be a real nuisance, but they do have their good points, like making a good screen or hiding an unsightly bin etc.

You might (and I might) like to think about that really nice scented evergreen clematis - haven't got details to hand at the mo, but will look it up.

What an exciting year it's going to be!
