Because he is a hairy breed. When he is worked, like being ridden today, he sweats up very badly as he gets so hot being so hairy. The excessive sweating can lead to extreme exhaustion, collapse and even pneumonia. It is healthier for him to be clipped if he is worked. If he was retired and just spent his days in a field then it would be uneccesary to clip him...

He is well rugged up in the stable and in the field. He will have double rugs tomorrow when his hair is taken off...

, I will now make a point at looking at all the horses round here, see if any of them are clipped

If they are clipped then they are ridden Moli...not all ridden horses need clipping however, just the more native and hairy breeds usually...oooh and competition horses of course
