Few days stand out in the whole of your memory but 9/11 will be forever scarred into mine. Like you've all said it was such a surreal experience, watching the events unfold in real time on tv, but yet it was so moving how the world seemed smaller that day. Everyone came together and sensed the shock.
Watched the docu on Channel 4 last night and it was when Condoleesa Rice recalled speaking to President Putin of Russia ( the old 'enemy') that because of the crisis defence protocols would be raised and she didn't want Russia to feel threatened. His response was, it's ok, we understand, and it made her feel that the Cold War was really over. Like, even in that darkest hour we had to trust that human nature was really good, in spite of the terror that was unfolding. That really hit me.
