What magnificent animals! Thanks for sharing those great pics, Dawn...and those poses..just like our domestic cats . But is sad to see them confined instead of roaming the hills and woods freely.. Are they an endangered species? Do they ever breed with moggies?

Yes they are very endangered and yes they crossbreed. This is the only reason they are in captivity Eileen to try and preserve the true breed.

How sad. We have mucked about so with the environment....

Our North American Wildcat will breed with domestic cats too, but I've read that the kittens can't be socialized even raised by a moggy mum ......OK as kittens but revert when they reach sexual maturity......

What a stunningly beautiful animal, I would very much like to see one in the flesh. It DOES look as if you could give them a cuddle . . . I suspect not though

What a superb place. I will look into it for taking Dominik to. It sounds a bit like our local Beale Park - small-scale zoo with kid's park/play area attached.

What attractive cats! They don't look wild at all but I know that's just cos they are in their safe environment

Twycross is a lovely zoo, I adore going there - they do some really wonderful work with species preservation and the animals they do have in captivity they work really hard to make their environment interesting for them.
