I wear glasses for reading and when I got mine I was lucky there was a buy one get one free offer on.....

Mags
08-06-2005, 10:20 PM
I renewed my reading glasses earlier this year and got free prescription sunglasses with mine.....came in very handy for the hols..

Fran

I know in Meadowhall Shopping centre there were some offers but it has just been easier for me to go local with having no car, Emily for school, the horse and all other pets to sort out  I don't need sunglasses as I have photochromic lenses that react to light. The glasses are costing me £250  so I wish I was getting a pair free! It's the lenses that cost the most £140!!!

Moli

My hubby just got new glasses, he wears his all the time and he was about £250 for his, 3 times he's been back to the shop cause they are not right..

Mags
08-06-2005, 10:38 PM
That's what makes me laugh when you go to the opticians and they are offering half price frames and you think you are getting a good deal.......until you see how much they charge you for the lens :-D

Mags
08-06-2005, 10:40 PM
I don't wear mine all the time but I got varifocals this time and they cost me close on £300

Well that is another reason I decided to go local. If there are any problems with them, the opticians is within walking distance as I just don't know how long I will be without a car

Mags

I bet you really miss it PK...

Moli
08-06-2005, 10:45 PM
I have glasses for close reading as I have what the nasty optician calls mature eyesight(cheek)They cost me £197 for the two pairs, which incidentally are now i pair as I sat on the others...

Mags
08-06-2005, 10:48 PM
  ...what a rude optician!
Sounds like you are a bit accident prone Moli

Fran
08-06-2005, 10:49 PM
I only need mine for distance...

Moli
08-06-2005, 10:51 PM
When will your car be fixed PK?

Fran
08-06-2005, 11:03 PM
Not sure we are having it fixed Moli, we are considering cutting our losses and scrapping it. It's a shame it is a really lovely car but it has only done 40K miles and the engine has gone  The garage has said it has never seen anything as bad and it is far too big a job for them to tackle. It would have to go to a Rover specialist and we have been told that if we do have it repaired it may never run right again :(

Moli
08-06-2005, 11:05 PM
thats awful PK...So will you just get scrap value for it?

Fran
08-06-2005, 11:07 PM
Yes it is looking very much like that Moli.
