What is a fox red lab, there's one advertised in our local..are theyrare???
It is a variant of a yellow lab Moli, a very dark yellow colour, which resembles that of a fox, hence the name. Yes they are quite rare but the colour is not recognised by the kennel club and it would have to be registered as yellow. There are only three recognised colours of labs; yellow, black and chocolate. You may even see 'silver' labs advertised and commanding mega amounts of money, but the colour is a dilute colour and is also not recognised by the kennel club.
He is being advertised a a rare stud dog....
To be honest Moli, any good stud dog owner would not need to advertise anyhow, but the top and bottom is, if he is KC registered which he certainly should be if he is being used for stud then he will be registered as a yellow labrador retriever! Fox red variant of yellow is rarer then the usual shades however
Is a labrador retriever different from a lab..? I know all about my own breeds, but very little about others..
No it's one and the same Moli. Lab and labrador are short for Labrador retriever. There are other retrievers other than labrador eg Golden retrievers, Fat coated retrievers, Curly coat retrievers etc.. 'Retriever' really refers to the group which they fall into
