View Full Version : Smokey RIP
My mums friend - (she is like a nan to me) is very poorly with cancer and last night her budgie died :( She is so upset, I think the little bird was the only thing keeping her going. As she is so poorly and could not do it herself I have offered to bury Smokey in my garden which I am going to do tonight and plant a pretty plant there for her.
Life is cruel!

That's so sad :(
It's great that you have offered to bury Smokey in your garden. It's such a nice thing to do
I think anyone would do the same for at this time :O(

what a nice thing to do Abbi
thanks, got to go and do it now - she is wrapped is pink tissue paper and in a little box, I have a little wooden cross to put in the ground too - she is deffo going with dignity.
That is so sad Abbi :( Pets mean so much to the elderly people, she must be devastated. You are doing a very kind thing for her which I'm sure she deeply appreciates.
You say she is very poorly and it is just a thought, but when you've buried her budgie, planted the pretty plant and placed the little wooden cross, why don't you take a pic of it to give to her, I'm sure she would like that.
Aww so sad :-(
Abbi you are are lovely person, I'm glad there are people like u around!
Thanks guys, I am sure that all you would do the same!
I have sent my mum up to the flower shop today to get a little colourful plant, will take a pic for her Mags, I think she would like that to.

Abs it sounds lovely.
My MIL buried my dog Tammy in their sheep field but I didn't want anything to mark her grave so my MIL has put a rose bush in her garden for me.
Awwww that's a really nice idea. Life is so so sad, I dread the day I loose any of mine :O(

That's the only problem with having a pet, you get so attached to them that when they do go it's heartbreaking. I think it's even harder when you have to make the decision to let them go cos of ill health. I've been through it twice in 4 years and it still hurts now :(
:( I totally understand that Na, I am sooo attached to my babies, they are young and I hope I will have many happy years with them.

I'm dreading the day when Jas goes but hopefully that won't be for a few years yet
People at work dont understand how attached I am - some of the girls say "it's only a cat" !!!!!
If I ever have to take them to the vet I have to tell a white lie and say that I am ill myself - they would never understand why I have to take time off work! :?

Same here. Paul understands how I feel and when we had to have Tam pts he cried aswell.
Normally Paul will say 'Oh for goodness sake it's only a dog'but losing Tam really hurt him :(
I broke my heart when Sam was PTS. It took ages to get over and for months after I kept expecting him to come through the cat flap.
Unless you are a pet lover no-one can understand how much it hurts to lose them.
I often feel that taking them to the vet is almost as bad as having to go to the doctor yourself!
It's so nice to actually chat to people who feel as passionate about their animals as i do - my OH likes them but not like me! my mum is the same as me, but I think you lot are as nuts as me about your babies!!!
Too right we are! 'Other' people don't know what they are missing do they!
My OH has often said I think more of Cassie than I do of him
And sometimes he's right!!
Oh my god Mags that is exactly what Simon says!!!!
Men huh!! http://tcwozere.co.uk/smileys/hunch.gif

Oh Mags that's what Paul says too
He's always telling people that Jas is better fed than him
They're all alike Nae!
Now would you dream of saying that about his beloved car?
