Hi There,
Just popped in - as I do from time to time - had a bit of a read and see that you are still moving along quietly but happily.....keep it up -
Here's a poem that I wrote about Birmans
Oh Mystical CAT
Silently on velvet paws she crept into my heart
Warmly whispering in my ear .. her purr would softly start
And when she gazed into my eyes with sweet and mystic stare
I glimpsed the stories of the ages she would love to share.
She purred and shared of Egypt, of valleys near the Nile
Of Emperors and pyramids – I’m sure I saw her smile.
She purred a tale of Bastet once worshipped and revered
She told of cats and kittens and myths and tales I feared.
She whispered then of Birmans .. most Sacred of her kind
Their mystical beginnings, sweet legend filled my mind.
Oh blue eyed one…..antiquity…..oh gracious feline friend
Your beauty is eternal I’m sure it has no end.
I couldn’t help but whisper back - Oh sweet and lovely one
Now you’ve shared your stories and if you’ve truly done
Why not curl upon my lap and settle for the night
Your purring’s getting softer - your eyes just slits of light.

And this one is more doggeral - about taking cats to a Cat Show - those who exhibit will relate to it - hope you don't mind it is long.....
THE CAT SHOW
“There’s a show today…” the retiree said
With a flick of her tail and a toss of her head
” And you lot are going but I am staying here..”
And she closed her eyes with a touch of a sneer.
“Oh no!!” said the lilac and ran for her life
“Not noise and strangers and all of that strife.”
She hid behind curtains - her tail poking out
Her feelings well known not a trace of a doubt.
The cat carry boxes were placed in a row
And the kittens explored them all ready to go
“Why are you fussing we don’t mind you see
We’re up for adventure whatever it be.”
Cats in the boxes and all in the car
The Show was not near but not really far
Vocal the felines who meowed different keys
A protest, a token a “Let me out please!!”
Breeze through the vetting and locate the rings
Curtains and trays and all of those things
Settle the babies, kits, cats in a row
Last flick with a brush and we’re ready to go.
“Clear the ring” comes the cry, “The judges are here”
Grab a good seat - where the critique is clear
Catelogue ready the pre-judging hush
The show has now started with almost a rush.
“Beautiful kitten, nice profile, and coat
A very nice specimen, worthy of note
Eye colour good, markings are right
Point colour even and body coat light”
And so go the comments on kitten and cat
Awards are made with a flourish and chat
“Hard class to decide but just had to be done
My Reserve to the Blue, the Seal number one!!
The judging is over the day a success
The Lilac got Challenge and even got Best
Surprised with the babies the little’un too
Had six in her class and still she won through.
And now there are people who don’t want to look
Not at Rosettes and Ribbons or cats from a book
But they want to stroke and hear the soft purr
And pet these great cats with the silky soft furr.
The time passes fast until soon we all hear
“Collapse the cages” and collect up your gear
A bit of a scurry and empty the hall
We leave quite contented - we all had a ball.
The kittens are purring all stretched and serene
The lilac is chatting - her last show she’s seen
Retired at last her Grand title she’s finished
But all she is saying is “Now I am famished”
Now we are home - all cats have been fed
Too tired to eat dinner – I’m off to my bed.
OK - I will post a few recent photos and pop back in a day or so to see what you think...Cheers
