After a very stressful week trying to get the projects I'd started finished in time, which involved having to unpick and re-do the doll's head after I'd already stuffed her , we went to the local show yesterday.
We got pretty wet on and off and had to stay until quite late to pick up my exhibits but had a lovely day in all.

My items-I entered the doll and the shoes and the lavender heart and egg cosy were part of the knitting club's stall (I only had a day to make those items so I didn't have much to offer  )

And a massive cabbage, just because!

(ETA-just realised I'd left mine and someone else's details on the shoe pic so edited it! Oops!)

I think I will make some mice to sell next year, I planned to knit a couple on Friday, just ran out of time! Maybe there will a be a toy mouse category next year!
I actually knitted the shoes Angie, in a pure wool/alpaca blend of yarn-I made them a couple of sizes too large then felted them by hand in hot water. It was actually very easy to do, then I stitched the little hearts on using pre-made felt. They fit Erin so hopefully she'll be able to wear them soon.

I am interested in the shoes Liz, because my best friend from school days loves to knit and uses all sorts of lovely wool, including alpaca. I'm sure she'd be interested in the felting technique - do you have a reference?

I used some of the info I was given on a felting course I went on for my birthday Angie but this was quite helpful too.

The knitted fabric will shrink in the direction that you roll or rub it so to make sure it felts evenly, you need to make sure you rotate it as you roll, if that makes sense!
