Shelley123

Leia has the right idea, think Jerry is outside somewhere. He won't be doing much, when we took him for his checkup the vet told me he certainly doesn't have an overactive thyroid like Tom had.The chap is a little portly :D

angieh
15-06-2011, 08:54 PM
Jane Seymour ............. surname (or whatever last names were called then) escaped me. Thanks for all those points Shelley, makes me glad I watched The Tudors (well some of it) on TV - it was racy to say the least!!!

dandysmom
15-06-2011, 08:54 PM

Jane Seymour ............. surname (or whatever last names were called then) escaped me. Thanks for all those points Shelley, makes me glad I watched The Tudors (well some of it) on TV - it was racy to say the least!!!

very racy and not very historicaly correct, he wasn't that handsome ;)

dandysmom
15-06-2011, 08:57 PM
They say he was handsome when he was young, dissipated living got him into that awful shape you see in the later portraits.......

angieh
15-06-2011, 08:58 PM
apologises, we have a quiz on the ins and outs of credit cards tomorrow so had a bit of reading to do for it!!! how is everyone tonight?

It's a horrid thing, but I am sure that given time people will have no other choice. They are doing away with cheque guarantee cards and once cheques go as they will, credit cards will be the only things left - or debit cards of course. I remember postal orders!!!

Shelley123
15-06-2011, 08:58 PM
apologises, we have a quiz on the ins and outs of credit cards tomorrow so had a bit of reading to do for it!!! how is everyone tonight?

 perhaps you should do your next quiz on the subject

angieh
15-06-2011, 08:59 PM
They say he was handsome when he was young, dissipated living got him into that awful shape you see in the later portraits.......

Plus he had brain damage as the result of a horrific fall from a horse. He was unconscious for quite a while.

dandysmom
15-06-2011, 09:00 PM
It's a horrid thing, but I am sure that given time people will have no other choice. They are doing away with cheque guarantee cards and once cheques go as they will, credit cards will be the only things left - or debit cards of course. I remember postal orders!!!

And people who don't want credit cards will be walking ATMs for muggers, carrying around that other alternative .......... cash!

Shelley123
15-06-2011, 09:00 PM
They say he was handsome when he was young, dissipated living got him into that awful shape you see in the later portraits.......

yes i've heard he was, just not to my taste ;)

angieh
15-06-2011, 09:01 PM
very racy and not very historicaly correct, he wasn't that handsome ;)

No - historical accuracy got lost but it was interesting that Thomas Tallis appeared as a bit of a rake. My fav piece of classical music is Variations on a Theme of Thomas Tallis by R Vaughan Williams - never realised the Theme was that old!

Shelley123
15-06-2011, 09:01 PM
the correct answer is St Andrews
Question 3.Which trophy, which has been played for since 1900, has often been called "The ugliest salad bowl in the world"?

angieh
15-06-2011, 09:02 PM
And people who don't want credit cards will be walking ATMs for muggers, carrying around that other alternative .......... cash!

My mum is very interested in the Tudors, particularly Henry VIII. I used to have bedtime stories about him

pamela81
15-06-2011, 09:04 PM
Perhaps by then the wheels will have turned full circle and we'll be back to trading with salt and beans!

lol angie u never know

If people used debit cards instead of cash it would be alot safer and they wouldnt run up as much debt as they do with credit cards. The only time i would get 1 is when i get the cats insured and use it to pay fees and then claim it back from insurance

angieh
15-06-2011, 09:05 PM
I have no idea about the trophy, but Wimbledon is topical.

pamela81
15-06-2011, 09:05 PM

dandysmom
15-06-2011, 09:08 PM
Credit cards, used sensibly, and I mean sensibly in never charge more in a month that you can pay off in full at the end of the month, are a wonderful convenience, I have never paid a late fee or interest charge on any of mine. Not everyone is disciplined enough to do that. I hate that that sounds bragging, which I don't mean to do, but it's just common sense!!

Shelley123
15-06-2011, 09:08 PM
 sorry it is Tennis, it's the Davis Cup, so anyone who said Tennis i will give a point to

dandysmom

angieh

I think credit unions are a really great idea for helping people. Much better than building societies which they have replaced in ideology. Can't believe how "uppity" building societies have become and forgotten their origins.

angieh
