OH and I went to our local lavender farm's open day today. Coming down the hill towards the field had a WOW factor...

The only things that were missing were the honey bees. We did see a few, but this field should have been buzzing. I am so worried about the lack of bees.

That's stunning; I cannot imagine seeing all that much lavender at once! It must have smelt gorgeous! Lavender's blue, dilly dilly .....

Beautiful photos! Where exactly is it? I know there are lavender fields near Selborne-ish but the site you went to looks bigger.

Did you buy anything?

Just breathtaking! I bet the scent was almost too much :D

I was reading locally about our university being awarded just over a million to research the loss of bees. It is indeed a worry. I'm busy planting wild flowers/budllea etc at the allotment to help encourage the bees . . . .

Thanks all - MrsH it's at Lordington which is not far from where I live - it's on B1246 Walderton is probably the nearest village. I bought a small bottle of lavender cooking essence! Wish I'd had money to buy the pillow spray which was wonderful! Perhaps I'll just have to go back ........

The lavender fields look gorgeous Angie and i bet the smell was wonderful.
I think all the Bees are in our garden ;)
We have a herb in the rockery and they seem to love it.
I don't know what it is, maybe a should post a pic. The smell reminds me of Pizza, i thought it was Oregano but my Italian neighbour says No. Whatever it is it spreads like wildfire and gets little greyish flowers on.

I'd guess Marjoram - I have it in my garden and the bees love it too.

I suspect marjoram also if it's not oregano. Marjoram's not quite as pungent smelling.

Looks amazing. I had hoped to go to a lavender farm when I was down in Yorkshire last month but we ran out of time.

The masses of lilac is almost false it is so unusual. Bet the photos with the parasol are stunning when taken by aomeone who can tweak the colour.

I too love the scent of lavender.
