Some of you already know that i have a little disabled girl henrietta (hetty) she is my baby girl and adorable:D
I got her from some neighbours who had allowed their numerous un-neutered cats to breed:evil: hetty was the result of Tom cat mating with his daughter:?
She was able to walk when i got her but suffered an injury when her sister jumped on her back which left her dragging her back legs:( she managed to get about really well and was able to use her litter tray:D
I took her to my vet who though that she should be PTS:( No way so i got a second opinion from an orthopeidic specialist who agreed with the first vet:?
I then had her treated with acupuncture by a lovely vet called Emma:D she fell in love with Hetty and totally disagreed with the vets diagnosis so i took her to another vet who i know well and agreed with emma that she could be treated and be able to walk again:D
he wanted her to be over a year old so that her bones would be firmer for the surgery he planned to do (that was in Feb.)In the mean time she had started to walk again on her own so last week we went back for this operation to take place only when i collected her he had just X-rayed her again and planned to operate this week (yesterday)
I was very nervous about this as it would have been major surgery but thought i would let this vet do whatever he could for hetty to have a normal life:D However about an hour after i had left her i got a call from this vet to say that he couldn't do anything for her and that he would euthanase her:evil: I shouted NO down the phone at him and rushed up to collect her:D she is now safely home and recovering :D I have rung the surgery today to speak with the vet as i wanted to know why he had changed his mind about her as when he saw her last week he made a huge fuss of her and said how well she looked (she does)He has assured me (as did the other vets )that she is not in any pain:D she is just a bit wobbly on her legs when she walks:(
He is going to speak to me on Monday as he wasn't there but i feel really let down that he has said all along that he could repair her legs and has now changed his mind:cry: after doing several lots of X-rays :? surely he could tell by looking at them if he was able to operate on her or not:?
WHY would he change his mind after just one week:? he was so positive last week that i think i need an explantion:evil:

Good grief!! That is an appalling way to be treated. Tbh I am at a loss as to what to say to you. Thank God your little girl has you in her corner. x

That sounds dreadful. Poor wee thing. I presume he hadn't even started the op (thank goodness) but something changed his mind. Without knowing what that reason is, I can't comment further but he certainly seems to have changed his tune from his first enthusiasm to help her to wanting to pts. As Alex says, thank God she has you to fight for her.

I'm so glad you were able to save Hetty from being PTS. As long as she isn't in pain there's no earthly reason for that. Do let us know what that vet had to say when you speak to him. Can't Emma do anything for her apart from acupuncture?

I am so glad you have her. You sound a wonderful mum. Every animal deserve the right to live.

Thanks for your replies:D I am going to speak with emma next week:D I am too upset at the moment to think straight:(
The only thing i can think of is that this vet said he would get his partner to assist him in Hetties surgery:D this other vet has never seen hetty so maybe it was his input that made my vet change his mind so drastically:?
I had such faith in this vet and he knows how much i care for my animals and he knew i would never agree to him killing her (i told him this yesterday)
I did ask him why he wanted to kill her but he just muttered something about her legs being bad (like i didn't already know that)anyway she has managed to walk again which was all i wanted and she did that by herself so nasty vetman can get stuffed as far as we are concerned:evil:
I am really shocked that he could think i would ever agree to killing an otherwise healthy cat:shock: and that he would want to do that as he has been so supportive when the other vets didn't give her half a chance now he is saying the same thing:evil:
