Hi everybody,

Just back from a week in a log cabin in North Yorkshire. Had a great time nice and relaxing (apart from the 18 mile walk I talked the OH into :-D up some rather steep hills  )

Went to Whitby and had some really nice fish & chips and just more or less relaxed for the week

Couldn't believe it on the 2nd day oh was looking out of the cabin and said "there is a cat outside in the forest with a kitten" thought he was joking, but no there was a mother cat with four gorgeous kittens, I tried to get closer to her but she just growled a lot at me, we kept our eyes on them to make sure they were ok and they were really thriving, kittens looked in excellent health and we really fun to watch playing and mum was healthy and really looking after them, she wouldn't take any food from us (tried some chicken) and she was catching food in the forest (saw her eating something a few times) I look a couple of photos and I will post them up, she was a tortie, with two ginger and white kittens, one black and white and one tortie.

Hi Elaine and Angie, well I got sunburnt on Sunday when we were out walking the 18 miles (took us 6 hours! LOL but half of that was uphill) the rest of the days were slightly overcast and it rained a couple of evenings, when we went to Whitby it was drizzling for the whole day but we had great fun. Yes Angie there were VERY nice (although a bit expensive F&C!!)

Wow! That sounds very up-market EmmaG! Log cabins with hot tubs - and resident cats. I would have enjoyed that walk too some years ago. I am very fond of North Yorkshire. OH and I have spent many lovely holidays up there.

Great photos - what a great looking cabin.

Angie, the cabins were very nice, very modern, we didn't have the most luxurious ones but they were still very nice.

What a lovely cat - she's at home in the woods there.

Certainly didn't want to be disturbed that's for sure Angie, she was very pretty, not skinny or anything and the kittens were so cutie, they must have been about 6-8 weeks old, they were running about playing with everything and with their mum. The only thing what would cause them any bother would be a fox, but they were quite close to the cabins, and they obviously had a hiding place (we thought a base of one of the trees) as they disappeared at night (the kittens also disappeared very quickly when mum was growling at me!!)

Oh wow, Emma, that cabin is nothing like the rustic image that "log cabin" brings to mind! Quite fancy, and a hot tub yet! That sounds like a lovely place for your holiday. Mum cat looks quite at home in the forest; wonder what she'll do when Winter comes? Typical Catsey people....always seem to find cats on holiday!

Eileen I reckon she might move them to underneeth one of the cabins, they would be fairly warm under there, also by that time they would be young cats.

I was thinking more of food than shelter .......

There must be loads of wildlife still about in the winter? rabbits/mice etc.

I expect there is a site warden or someone who comes in daily to check everything's OK ............ and possibly leave something out for the cat?

Hi Kel, yes they allow dogs, and also cats (just incase anybody wanted to take their cats with them) no supplement for cats but there is for dogs I believe.

The website is www.forestholidays.co.uk (http://www.forestholidays.co.uk) you need to click on the cabin button.

They also have locations in Cornwall and Scotland
